Purpose: Carcinogenesis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has long been associated with exposure to tobacco smoke and alcohol consumption. Some centres have reported that non-smoking non-drinking (NSND) patients represent a significant and increasing proportion of OSCC cases with reports of poorer outcomes. Demographic characteristics are variably reported for this group and carcinogenesis is not fully understood.

Introduction: Respiratory disorders pose a serious health risk for quarry workers exposed to dust, as they are a leading source of morbidity and mortality globally, often resulting in irreversible lung conditions. Objective: We aimed to investigate the effects of Tongluo Zhitong formula on synovial fibroblast proliferation in human knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Methods: Discarded synovial tissue collected from patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty at our hospital was digested with type I collagenase. Primary culture was performed on three to four generations of fibroblasts, which were treated with high, medium, and low concentrations of Tongluo Zhitong formula.

Background: The impact of ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) on breastfeeding outcomes may be overestimated and surgical treatment in newborns remains a controversial topic. The aim of the present study was to assess and quantify the impact of ankyloglossia in newborns on breastfeeding self-efficacy at 14 days of life.
Methods: A birth cohort study was conducted involving mothers and newborns soon after childbirth at a public hospital in the city of Canoas, southern Brazil.
