Rationale: Approximately 32 million people in the United States suffer from food allergies. Some food groups, such as legumes - peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish, have a high risk of cross-reactivity. However, the murine model of multiple food group cross-reactivity is limited.

Vanishing twins, selection , and infant mortality in the United States.

January 2025

Department of Health, Society, and Behavior, Joe C. Wen School of Population and Public Health, University of California, Irvine, CA, USA.

Background And Objectives: Research to identify fetal predictors of infant mortality among singletons born in the United States (US) concludes that poorly understood and unmeasured "confounders" produce a spurious association between fetal size and infant death. We argue that these confounders include Vanishing Twin Syndrome (VTS)-the clinical manifestation of selection against frail male twins . We test our argument in 276 monthly conception cohorts conceived in the US from January 1995 through December 2017.

Members of the families Thermosynechococcaceae and Thermostichaceae are well-known unicellular thermophilic cyanobacteria and a non-thermophilic genus was newly classified into the former. Analysis of the codon usage bias (CUB) of cyanobacterial species inhabiting different thermal and non-thermal niches will benefit the understanding of their genetic and evolutionary characteristics. Herein, the CUB and codon context patterns of protein-coding genes were systematically analyzed and compared between members of the two families.

Weifang Key Laboratory of Respiratory Tract Pathogens and Drug Therapy, School of Life Sciences and Technology, Shandong Second Medical University, Weifang, China.

(Mtb) is the pathogenic agent of tuberculosis (TB). Intracellular survival plays a central role in the pathogenesis of Mtb in a manner that is dependent on an array of transcriptional regulators for Mtb. However, the functionality of JTY_0672, a member of the TetR family of transcriptional regulators, remains unknown.
