Background: thymic basaloid carcinoma (BTC) is an extremely rare tumor, and very little data are available on BTC's biology, clinical behavior, drug sensitivity, and patient outcomes.

Methods: We performed a retrospective observational study on patients diagnosed with BTC in 11 referral centers of TYME. All BTC diagnoses were reviewed by the referring pathologist.

High expression of cellular self-activated immunosuppressive molecules and extensive infiltration of suppressive immune cells in the tumor microenvironment are the main factors contributing to glioma's resistance to immunotherapy. Nonetheless, technology to modify the expression of glioma cellular self-molecules through gene editing requires further development. This project advances cell therapy strategies to reverse the immunosuppressive microenvironment of glioma (TIME).

Background: Lung cancer treatment remains a global challenge due to tumor cell resistance. Propofol, traditionally used as an anesthetic, has demonstrated potential anti-tumor properties. This study seeks to elucidate how propofol induces cell death in lung cancer cells by upregulating Pannexin 1 (PANX1) expression, activating the mitochondrial cell death pathway, and augmenting reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Pretransplant immunotherapy increases acute rejection yet improves survival outcome of HCC patients with MVI post-liver transplantation.

Department of Pancreatic-Biliary Surgery, Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, 510120, China.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based immunotherapy has emerged as the most promising strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) downstaging prior to liver transplantation (LT). However, further evidence is required to assess the feasibility and safety of pretransplant ICI exposure. We retrospective analyzed 159 HCC patients who underwent LT at our institution from June 2019 to December 2023, and 39 recipients (39/159, 24.

Acetylcysteine synergizes PD-1 blockers against colorectal cancer progression by promoting TCF1PD1CD8 T cell differentiation.

October 2024

Department of Anesthesiology, Zhongshan Hospital, Cancer Center, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Fudan University, 180# Feng-Lin Road, Shanghai, 200032, China.

Background: Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) blockade is essential in treating progressive colorectal cancer (CRC). However, some patients with CRC do not respond well to immunotherapy, possibly due to the exhaustion of CD8 T cells in the tumor microenvironment. N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) can reduce CD8 T cell exhaustion in vitro and induce their differentiation into long-lasting phenotypes, thus enhancing the anti-tumor effect of adoptive T cell transfer.
