Objective: Curettage adenoidectomy is one of the most common methods of adenoidectomy. This study reports the incidence of residual adenoid tissue after curettage and grades the degree of post-nasal space obstruction using fibre-optic nasopharyngoscopy.
Methods: A retrospective study of 425 consecutive patients undergoing curette adenoidectomy in a 5-year period.
Results: Of the 425 patients, 288 (68%) had some residual adenoid tissue evident with nasopharyngoscopy, of which 104 (24%) had significant obstruction (grade 2 or 3). No age or sex difference was found in the likelihood or severity of residual adenoid tissue.
Conclusions: A significant proportion of patients will have residual adenoid tissue following curette adenoidectomy alone. Nasopharyngoscopy permits a more complete resection in a cost-effective, quick and easily performed additional step.

Methods: The literature on pediatric sleep-disordered breathing (PSDB), pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), anatomical predispositions, and the relationship between skeletal deformity and PSDB was examined using PubMed and Google Scholar databases, covering studies from 2006 to 2024.

Aim: We aimed to compare the effects of microdebrider adenoidectomy, curettage adenoidectomy through oral cavity under 70°endoscope, and endoscopic transoral low-temperature ablation on adenoid hypertrophy.
Methods: A total of 180 children suffering from adenoid hypertrophy hospitalized during November 2019 and November 2023 were allocated to group A (microdebrider adenoidectomy, n = 65), group B (curettage adenoidectomy through oral cavity under 70° nasal endoscope, n = 54), and group C (nasal endoscopic transoral low-temperature adenoid ablation, n = 61). The operation data (operation time and bleeding amount), pain score, postoperative recovery, and complications were compared.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of microdebrider adenoidectomy on sleep-disordered breathing among pediatric patients with OSA.
Methods: In the microdebrider group (Group I), there were 30 Japanese OSA patients consisting of 26 boys and 4 girls. For comparison, we had 15 children (13 boys and 2 girls) who underwent classical adenoidectomy (Group II).
