Background: Native and periprosthetic joint infections are devastating conditions fraught with patient morbidity and mortality. Aseptic and septic joints are often debrided and irrigated to decrease bacterial loads when preventing or treating infection. However, the effect of clinically used irrigation solutions on the native cellular components of the synovial joint is unknown.

Serratia marcescens is an opportunistic nosocomial pathogen with significant implications for burn care due to its multidrug resistance, virulence, and ability to colonize hospital environments. This retrospective study, conducted at an American Burn Association Verified Burn Centre, reviewed 22 cases of S. marcescens infections from 2015 to 2020.

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a major complication of diabetes mellitus, defined as infection, ulceration and/or destruction of deep tissues and/or peripheral artery disease in the lower extremities. Efficient cleansing is essential for the treatment of wounds, as it removes debris and necrotic tissue and decreases the burden of wound-colonizing microorganisms. The objective was to conduct a systematic review of the literature to investigate the effects of wound cleansing agents commonly used in DFU care, compared to the use of normal saline for DFU management.

Objectives: Method-dependent comparison of antimicrobial agents' efficacy against oral pathogens.
Materials And Methods: Several sodium hypochlorite solutions (NaOCl)-Perisolv, Carisolv and Dakin's solution-were equated with chlorhexidine (CHX) and hydrogen peroxide (HO) against ten oral micro-organisms related to caries and periodontitis using different minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) techniques. Agents were adjusted to the final 70 mmol/L concentration of active chlorine molecule.

Unlabelled: Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has improved split-thickness skin graft (STSG) survival rates, but prolonged application increases bacterial bioburden. Antimicrobial NPWT adjuncts have demonstrated efficacy, but strong evidence is lacking. We hypothesized that simultaneously replacing NPWT dressings within 48-72 hours and cleansing with Dakin's solution-a well-known antimicrobial agent-would increase STSG take.
