A current drawback of spintronics is the large power that is usually required for magnetic writing, in contrast with nanoelectronics, which relies on "zero-current," gate-controlled operations. Efforts have been made to control the spin-relaxation rate, the Curie temperature, or the magnetic anisotropy with a gate voltage, but these effects are usually small and volatile. We used ferroelectric tunnel junctions with ferromagnetic electrodes to demonstrate local, large, and nonvolatile control of carrier spin polarization by electrically switching ferroelectric polarization. Our results represent a giant type of interfacial magnetoelectric coupling and suggest a low-power approach for spin-based information control.

Determining the energetics of triplet electronic states of nucleobases in the biological macromolecular environment of nucleic acids is essential for an accurate description of the mechanism of photosensitization and the design of drugs for cancer treatment. In this work, we aim at developing a methodological approach to obtain accurate free energies of triplets in DNA beyond the state of the art, able to reproduce the decrease of triplet energies measured experimentally for in DNA (270 kJ/mol) vs in the isolated nucleotide in aqueous solution (310 kJ/mol). For such purposes, we adapt the free energy perturbation method to compute the free energy related to the transformation of a pure singlet state into a pure triplet state via "alchemical" intermediates with mixed singlet-triplet nature.

: The increased SNR available at 7T combined with fast readout trajectories enables accelerated spectroscopic imaging acquisitions for clinical applications. In this report, we evaluate the performance of a Hadamard slice encoding strategy with a 2D rosette trajectory for multi-slice fast spectroscopic imaging at 7T. : Moderate-TE (~40 ms) spin echo and J-refocused polarization transfer sequences were acquired with simultaneous Hadamard multi-slice excitations and rosette in-plane encoding.

In this work, using first-principles calculations, we predict a promising class of two-dimensional ferromagnetic semiconductors, namely Janus PrXY (X ≠ Y = Cl, Br, I) monolayers. Through first-principles calculations, we found that PrXY monolayers have excellent dynamic and thermal stability, and their band structures, influenced by magnetic exchange and spin-orbital coupling, exhibit significant valley polarization. Between and - valleys, the Berry curvature values are opposite to each other, resulting in the anomalous valley Hall effect.

Light-driven spin hyperpolarization of organic molecules is a crucial technique for spin-based applications such as quantum information science (QIS) and dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). Synthetic chemistry provides the design of spins with atomic precision and enables the scale-up of individual spins to hierarchical structures. The high designability and extended pore structure of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can control interactions between spins and guest molecules.

Increasing the degree of freedom for quantum entanglement within tensor networks can enhance the depiction of the essence in many-body systems. However, this enhancement comes with a significant increase in computational complexity and critical slowing down, which drastically increases time consumption. This work converts a quantum tensor network algorithm into a classical circuit on the Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and arranges the computing unit with a dense parallel design, efficiently optimizing the time consumption.
