Background: Many different stress signaling pathways converge in a common response: slowdown or arrest cell cycle in the G1 phase. The G1/S transition (called Start in budding yeast) is a key checkpoint controlled by positive and negative regulators. Among them, Whi7 and Whi5 are transcriptional repressors of the G1/S transcriptional program, yeast functional homologs of the Retinoblastoma family proteins in mammalian cells.

Optimal levels of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) applied at the stem base promote adventitious root (AR) initiation and primordia formation, thus promoting the rooting of leafy micro-cuttings of tetraploid Robinia pseudoacacia. Tetraploid Robinia pseudoacacia L. is a widely cultivated tree in most regions of China that has a hard-rooting capability, propagated by stem cuttings.

The auxin-inducible degron (AID) system is a versatile tool in cell biology and genetics, enabling conditional protein regulation through auxin-induced degradation. Integrating CRISPR/Cas9 with AID expedites tagging and depletion of a required protein in human and mouse cells. The mechanism of AID involves interactions between receptors like TIR1 and the AID tag fused to the target protein.

RSC (remodels the structure of chromatin) is an essential ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. RSC utilizes its ATPase subunit, Sth1, to slide or remove nucleosomes. RSC has been shown to regulate the width of the nucleosome-depleted regions (NDRs) by sliding the flanking nucleosomes away from NDRs.
