Introduction: In solid-organ transplant (SOT) recipients, while survival rates have improved with immunosuppressive therapies, the risk of opportunistic infections has also increased. This study aimed to evaluate the frequency of pneumonia, identify microbiological factors, investigate diagnostic methods, and analyse prognosis.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted to identify adult SOT recipients referred to the pulmonary diseases department with a preliminary pneumonia diagnosis between 2011 and 2019.

Caffeic acid, a phenolic compound with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, shows promise in the dermatological field. The research aimed to incorporate caffeic acid into hydrophilic gels based on poloxamer 407, carbomer 980, and their mixture in order to enhance its biological activity. Different gel formulations were prepared using different concentrations of these polymers to optimize caffeic acid release characteristics.

The fermentation process of Chinese baijiu, a distinctive example of batch solid-state fermentation (BSSF), involves the recurrent use of the same raw material to optimize starch utilization. However, it is unclear which microorganisms are able to metabolize low concentration starch effectively. In this study, we successfully identified the key saccharifying microbiota that degraded low-concentration starch in the BSSF system by absolute quantification techniques.

Aims: Glutamate wastewater poses a great environmental challenge to the monosodium glutamate production industry. However, its treatment solution is rich in crude protein, which has the potential to be developed as a new protein source for animal feed.
Methods And Results: Given that the fermentation process generates functionally different metabolites, this study innovatively utilized two strains of feed microorganisms, Aspergillus niger and Candida tropicalis, to perform solid-state fermentation of glutamate wastewater treatment solution.

Background: Solid-state fermentation is one of the most effective methods for the high-value utilization of agro-industrial by-products. Co-fermentation of wet distiller grains and agricultural waste is an effective way to mitigate the feed shortage caused by corn consumption for bioethanol. It is still challenging to convert wet distiller grains and wheat bran to easily accessible carbon sources and adjust the balanced proportion of amino acids together by fermentation.
