Scorpion stings represent an important and serious public health problem worldwide due to their high incidence and potentially severe and often fatal clinical manifestations. Children are at greater risk of developing severe cardiac, respiratory, and neurological complications due to lesser body surface area. Alpha receptor stimulation plays important role in the pathogenesis of pulmonary edema. Prazosin, a post synaptic alpha blocker, can be recommended as an effective drug in the treatment of serious scorpion envenomations with significant sympathetic symptoms. Oral prazosin is fast acting, easily available, relatively cheap, free from any anaphylaxis and highly effective.

Drugs blocking the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system may offer benefit on endothelial function, inflammation, and hemostasis in addition to the effects of reducing blood pressure. We have shown antithrombin effects by treatment with the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor ramipril. As thrombin is a key inducer of platelet aggregation, we hypothesized that treatment with ramipril could modulate platelet reactivity and endothelial glycocalyx (eGCX) function.

1-(2-(4-(4-ethylphenyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)phenyl)ethanone (ETAP) is a novel hybrid compound containing 1,2,3-triazole and acetophenone. It exhibits antidepressant-like effects in male mice, linked to modulation of serotonergic receptors and monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) inhibition. This study aimed to evaluate the involvement of the dopaminergic and noradrenergic systems, as well as MAO-B activity inhibition, in the antidepressant-like effect of ETAP in male mice, and to evaluate the antidepressant-like effect of ETAP in female mice.

Purpose: Reduced capillary number in skeletal muscle due to disuse can hinder the delivery of insulin and amino acid delivery to muscle cells, diminishing insulin activity and muscle protein synthesis, ultimately contributing to anabolic resistance. However, it remains unknown whether mitigating capillary regression during inactivity improves anabolic resistance. This study aimed to investigate the effect of increasing capillary number through the administration of prazosin, which can increase blood flow and prevent capillary regression, on anabolic resistance in skeletal muscle induced by disuse.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating psychiatric disorder that arises following exposure to an extreme stress. PTSD is characterized by five primary trauma-related symptom clusters, including symptoms of negative mood and hyperresponsivity to the traumatic event. Regrettably, the current therapy options are not highly effective.
