Published: February 2010

2,2,2-Trifluoro- and trichloroethyl imidates, which are easily prepared by reaction of a nitrile and a trihaloethanol in the presence of HCl, have proven to be excellent reagents for the preparation of amidines under mild reaction conditions. Depending on the nature of the amine nucleophile, the imidates can react either as the free-base or the hydrochloride salt in a telescoped process. In several cases, the p-bromobenzoate salt of the desired product was directly isolated from the reaction mixture.

Developing efficient adsorbent is imperative for the utilization of uranium resources in seawater. Marine microorganisms and bacteria play an important role in the process of adsorption of uranium. In this work, a completely bio-based antimicrobial aerogel (quaternary cellulose/chitosan aerogel-QCNF/CS) was prepared by cross-linking quaternary cellulose nanofibers (QCNF) and chitosan (CS) via citric acid (CA).

n-Alkyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-based deep eutectic solvent (DESs) has potential in the efficient delignification and utilization of carbohydrates in biomass. In this research, DESs containing Brønsted acid and Lewis acid were prepared with CTAB (alkyl-chain length 12-18), organic acids and metal chlorides, and the optimal treatment conditions were acquired by pretreatment optimization. Through the pretreatment with TTAB/LCA/Fe (1:4:0.

Biodegradable plastics are increasingly utilized in packaging, driven by green chemistry and environmental responsibility. Among them, poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) stands out due to its biodegradability and biocompatibility. However, its limited gas permeability and selectivity hinder its application in produce preservation.

Sulfur-containing gases produced during the utilization of petroleum fuels are the main cause of air pollution. To remove organic sulfur-containing compounds from simulated gasoline, magnetic hydrophobic Cu-containing SBA-15 mesoporous molecular sieves (PMS-Cu) were prepared by magnetization of the sample, loading and reduction of copper ion and hydrophobic treatment of the sample. The composition and structure of the synthesized composites were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, and XPS, which proved the successful preparation of the adsorbent PMS-Cu.

Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi 221005, India; Glycochemistry Laboratory, School of Physical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067, India. Electronic address:

Molecular hybridization is an emerging strategy in medicinal chemistry for designing new bioactive molecules that link pharmacophores covalently and shows synergistic enhanced properties. Herein, we have developed pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-based new glycohybrids considering the Warburg effect. A microwave-assisted, copper-catalyzed efficient synthesis of new triazole-linked glycohybrids based on pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines scaffold was achieved successfully in high yields with inherent stereochemical diversity from d-glucose, d-galactose, and d-mannose.
