Immunological changes are believed to be a part of pre-eclampsia etiology. This study investigated the distribution of the specific peripheral B lymphocyte phenotypes in pre-eclampsia cases compared to uncomplicated pregnancies. The study cohort included 29 women with pre-eclampsia and 14 women with uncomplicated pregnancies.

Problem: Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a critical pregnancy complication linked to increased perinatal morbidity and mortality. Inflammation plays a key role in FGR's pathophysiology, and systemic inflammation markers may serve as predictors. This study evaluates the role of various inflammation indices; systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), lymphocyte-to-platelet ratio (LMR), monocyte-to-platelet ratio (MPR), aggregate systemic inflammation index (AISI), systemic coagulation inflammation index (SCII), and immature granulocyte percentage (IG%) in predicting FGR.

Current understanding and prospects for targeting neurogenesis in the treatment of cognitive impairment.

Neural Regen Res

January 2025

Department of Anesthesiology, Renji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

Adult hippocampal neurogenesis is linked to memory formation In the adult brain, with new neurons in the hippocampus exhibiting greater plasticity during their immature stages compared to mature neurons. Abnormal adult hippocampal neurogenesis is closely associated with cognitive impairment in central nervous system diseases. Targeting and regulating adult hippocampal neurogenesis have been shown to improve cognitive deficits.

Premature and low birth weight neonates often struggle with oral intake due to immaturity or respiratory distress. Forkhead box protein 2 gene () is predicted to influence oral feeding ability in newborns, but studies assessing the role of this gene in influencing oral feeding ability are limited. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of gene polymorphism, particularly single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs17137124, on the duration of orogastric tube (OGT) use in moderate to late preterm neonates.

The JAZ protein family, serving as a key negative regulator in the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, interacts with transcription factors to play an essential role in plant growth, development, and stress responses. However, minimal research has focused on the role of JAZ transcription factors in regulating the growth, development, and stress responses of maize. In this study, we cloned the JAZ gene ZmJAZ13 from maize (Zea mays L.
