The question to be addressed in this paper is how a language which is fundamentally monosyllabic in structure can have about a dozen different reduplication types with at least eight different linguistic functions. The language under discussion, American Sign Language (ASL), is one representative of a class of languages that makes widespread use of reduplication for lexical and morphological purposes. The goal here is to present the set of phonological features that permit the productive construction of these forms and a first approximation to the feature geometry in which they participate. Reduplication forms are dependent on the event structure of the predicate and the associated aspectual modifications.

Objectives: In this study, we introduce an intervention based on two techniques: twang and medialization. The hypothesis is that a combination of these two techniques will enable trans women to gain feminine-sounding speech without vocal strain or harm.
Method: Five trans women took part in the study.

Objectives: The experimental Optimized Pitch and Language (OPAL) strategy enhances coding of fundamental frequency (F0) information in the temporal envelope of electrical signals delivered to channels of a cochlear implant (CI). Previous studies with OPAL have explored performance on speech and lexical tone perception in Mandarin- and English-speaking CI recipients. However, it was not clear which cues to lexical tone (primary and/or secondary) were used by the Mandarin CI listeners.

Scientific Background: Speech audiometry measurements under the influence of background noise are a fundamental part of evaluating the outcome of hearing care. As yet far, there are no recommendations for selecting a suitable method for adaptive speech audiometry measurements in background noise in cochlear implant (CI) care, so either the choice the adaptive level change of the speech signal (S) with constant noise (N) or the adaptive level change of N with constant S.
Objectives: Do the measurement results of the monaural speechrecognition threshold in noise (SRT) with the Oldenburg Sentence Test (OLSA) depend on the choice of level control?
Material And Methods: A total of 50 series of measurements with OLSA in noise and the Freiburg speech intelligibility test in quiet (FBE) on middle-aged CI patients from clinical routine.

Previous studies, using modulation stimuli, on the relative effects of frequency resolution and time resolution on CI users' speech perception failed to reach a consistent conclusion. In this study, frequency change detection and temporal gap detection were used to investigate the frequency resolution and time resolution of CI users, respectively. Psychophysical and neurophysiological methods were used to simultaneously investigate the effects of frequency and time resolution on speech perception in post-lingual cochlear implant (CI) users.
