Summary: Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a subtype of monogenic diabetes and a rare type of diabetes, which accounts for 1-5% of cases and is often underdiagnosed. The importance of its diagnosis lies in the potential implications that it can have on disease management and offspring. We report a de novo KCNJ11-MODY case and the process of transition from insulin to sulfonylureas.

Aims: Bidirectional detrimental relationships between COVID-19 infection and diabetes have been described globally. However, new-onset diabetes in adults and its follow-up during the pandemic have not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, new-onset autoimmune and type 2 diabetes cases during the pandemic were compared to those before the pandemic, and the clinical course of new-onset diabetes during the pandemic was examined.

Objectives: Diabetes mellitus has a negative impact on patients' lives and is a significant medical and social problem. Due to the high prevalence of diabetes mellitus, shortage of donor materials, immune rejection of the pancreas and limited efficacy of existing treatment methods, the study of promising and more effective approaches to the treatment of this disease, such as transplantation of fetal pancreatic islet cells, becomes relevant. The aim of the study is to determine the efficacy and necessity of fetal pancreatic islet cell transplantation in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
