We used paired-ion high-performance liquid chromatography to determine the 4-nitrophenol content of 4-nitrophenyl phosphate, a substrate for alkaline phosphatase analysis. This was done on a reversed-phase column with a mobile phase of methanol/water, 45/55 by vol, containing 3 ml of tetrabutylammonium phosphate reagent per 200 ml of solvent. At a flow rate of 1 ml/min, 4-nitrophenol was eluted at 9 min and monitored at 404 nm; 4-nitrophenyl phosphate was eluted at 5 min and could be monitored at 311 nm. Samples of 4-nitrophenyl phosphate obtained from several sources contained 0.3 to 7.8 mole of 4-nitrophenol per mole of 4-nitrophenyl phosphate.

Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are prevalent pollutants in the aquatic environment. OPEs are released from many sources, particularly, from the breakdown and weathering of plastic wastes, as OPEs are commonly used plastic additives. Metal oxide mineral nanoparticles play critical roles in the hydrolytic transformation of OPEs.

Its favorable pharmacological profile is primarily attributed to rapid hydrolysis, the primary metabolism pathway for its deactivation. Thus, understanding remimazolam hydrolysis determinants is essential for optimizing its clinical use.

Given the promising prospect of aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) in fluorescence assays, it is interesting and significant to endow AIEgens with molecular recognition capability (such as enzyme-like activity). Here, an AIE nanomaterial with intrinsic enzyme-like activity (named as "AIEzyme") is designed and synthesized via a facile coordination polymerization of Zr and AIE ligands. AIEzyme possesses enhanced and stable fluorescence in different solvents because of the AIE effect of ligands in the rigid structure of a coordination polymer.

Ectophosphatases catalyse the hydrolysis of phosphorylated molecules, such as phospho-amino acids, in the extracellular environment. Nevertheless, the hydrolysis of nucleotides in the extracellular environment is typically catalysed by ectonucleotidases. Studies have shown that acid ectophosphatase, or transmembrane-prostatic acid phosphatase (TM-PAP), a membrane-bound splice variant of prostatic acid phosphatase, has ecto-5'-nucleotidase activity.
