The pH-profiles of the extraction of Cs(+) into four conventional (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate and bis[trifluoromethyl)sulphonyl]imides of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium, and 1-(2-ethylhexyl)-3- methylimidazolium) and two novel (trioctylmethylammonium salicylate and tetrahexylammonium dihexylsulfosuccinate) room temperature ionic liquids have been determined both in the absence and in the presence of crown ether (18-crown-6 or dibenzo-18-crown-6). The pH-profiles of distribution ratio of crown ethers have been established in the same conditions. The relationship of cesium extraction efficiency both with the stability of its complexes with crown ethers and crown ethers' distribution ratio has been clarified.

Crown ethers (CEs), macrocyclic polyethers, have attracted significant attention in supramolecular chemistry. It is known that they have many isomers due to their flexibility. It is challenging to select some exact conformation and tune the following self-assembly structure of CEs, and it has rarely been reported to date.

Crown ether is widely used in water purification because of its ring structure and good selective adsorption of specific heavy metals. However, its high cost and difficulty in recycling limit the purification of heavy metals in water. The anisotropic [2,4]-dibenzo-18-crown-6-modified bamboo pulp aerogel (DB18C6/PA) is successfully synthesized by microwave irradiation and directional freezing technology.

Crystallization Control to Prepare Uniform CsPbIBr Thin Films for High-Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cells.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

November 2024

Ministry of Education Key Laboratory for Green Preparation and Application of Functional Materials, Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Polymers, Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Organic Chemical Materials Co-constructed by the Province and Ministry School of Materials Science and Engineering, Hubei University, Wuhan 430062, PR China.

Article Synopsis
  • All-inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) struggle with film inhomogeneity caused by nonideal crystallization, which hinders their development.
  • In this study, it was found that the deposition of a Br-rich intermediate during the crystallization of CsPbIBr leads to uneven distribution in the perovskite film.
  • To improve this, crown ether molecules were added to the precursor solution to optimize crystallization, resulting in a more even distribution of halogen ions and boosting PSC efficiency to 14.08%, with devices retaining 80% of their efficiency after 1000 hours of light exposure.

In this study, we have successfully synthesized bis (cholesterol-dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether)-pillar[5]arene compound 1 through a click reaction, which could spontaneously insert into lipid bilayers to form ion channel due to the membrane anchor cholesterol group and show significant transport activity of K superior to Na, with a permeability ratio of K/Na equal to 4.58. Compound 1 two crown ether modules act as selective filters similar to natural K channel, which are determined to 1 : 2 binding stoichiometry to K by Job's plot and NMR titration.

Significant challenges in ensuring long-term stability, addressing environmental safety issues, and improving efficiency have hindered the commercialization of inverted Pb-based halide perovskite solar cells (PeSCs). One reasonable approach to addressing these issues is to place an effective buffer layer between the perovskite active layer and the electrode. In this study, we demonstrate the use of crown ether, di--butyl dibenzo-18-crown-6, as a single buffer layer to improve the efficiency, long-term stability, and environmental safety of PeSCs for the first time.
