Twisted supramolecular assemblies "nanoscrews", were prepared by using simple porphyrin derivatives and acetonitrile solvent. The electrical properties of the assemblies were measured by using microgap electrodes. The nanoscrew had conductivity and showed photo-current. By changing the solvent, the pitch of the screws and their aggregation shapes could be controlled.

Designing molecular receptors that bind anions in water is a significant challenge, and an even greater difficulty lies in using these receptors to remove anions from water without resorting to the hazardous liquid-liquid extraction approach. We here demonstrate an effective and synthetically simple strategy toward these goals by exploiting ion-pair assembly of macrocycles. Our anion binding ensemble consists of an octa-chloro tetra-urea macrocyclic anion receptor (ClTU), which forms water-dispersible aggregates, and a tetra-cationic fluorescent dye 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(1-methyl-4-pyridinio)porphyrin (TMPyP4), which provides Coulombic stabilization and fluorescence reporting of anion binding in an ion-pair assembly.

The presence of excessive residues of pesticides poses a great threat to ecology and human health. Herein, a novel, low-cost, simple and precise quantification sensing platform was established for differentiating and monitoring four common pesticides in China. Particularly, the array-based ratio fluorescent sensor array detector (ARF-SAD) based on cross-reaction characteristics of porphyrins and other porphyrin derivative was successfully constructed and integrated into the platform.

Molecular catalysts with a single metal center are reported to reduce CO to a wide range of valuable single-carbon products like CO, HCOOH, CHOH, etc. However, these catalysts cannot reduce CO to two carbon products like ethane or ethylene and the ability to form C-C from CO remains mostly limited to heterogeneous material-based catalysts. We report a set of simple iron porphyrins with pendant thiol group can catalyze the reduction of CO to ethane (CH) with HO as the proton source with a Faradaic yield >40% the rest being CO.

We report herein a facile synthesis, characterization, and the electron transfer reaction of a novel light-harvesting material composed of laser-induced graphene (LIG) functionalized with the photoactive 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-trimethylammoniophenyl)porphyrin tetra(-toluenesulfonate) dye (TTMAPP). LIG was easily fabricated on the surface of a polyimide sheet using VersaLASER 3.6 (VLS 3.
