The aortic arch aneurysm is a complex disease with a growing incidence in our population. We report a 64 year-old female with an atherosclerotic aortic arch aneurysm with a maximum diameter of 9.4 cm and evidence of contained rupture. We performed a complete aortic arch replacement in a single period of 100 minutes of circulatory arrest with deep hypothermia and brain protection with anterograde cerebral perfusion through the right axillary artery. The patient had a complete recovery without evidence of neurological damage and was extubated on the next morning. One year later, the patient is asymptomatic and the peri-aortic haematoma was completely reabsorbed.

Purpose: Although idiopathic scoliosis is a common three-dimensional deformity, there is a lack of studies evaluating the associations between the aortic-vertebral distance (AVD) and spinal deformities in all planes. The study therefore aimed to evaluate how the coronal and sagittal curvature, vertebral rotation and aortic-vertebral angle (AVA) affect the AVD in idiopathic scoliosis.

Methods: The AVD, AVA, vertebral rotation and curve angles were measured on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging and radiographs in 46 patients who underwent posterior spinal fusion with pedicle screw instrumentation for idiopathic scoliosis Lenke types 1 and 2.

Objective: The European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) has developed clinical practice guidelines for the care of patients with vascular trauma with the aim of assisting physicians in selecting the optimal management strategy.

Methods: The guidelines are based on scientific evidence completed with expert opinion. By summarising and evaluating the best available evidence, recommendations for the evaluation and treatment of patients have been formulated.

This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism and the compatibility significance of Tanyu Tongzhi Formula in treating atherosclerosis(AS) in mice based on the transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)/Smad2/3 signaling pathway. Eight C57BL/6J mice were as assigned to a normal control group and fed a regular diet, while 35 ApoE~(-/-) mice of the same strain were fed a high-fat diet for 8 weeks to establish an AS model. The model mice were randomly divided into a model group, a Tanyu Tongzhi group(18.

We report the case of a 72-year-old male patient who presented with a progressive aortic arch aneurysm. To reduce surgical trauma, we planned the procedure using an upper partial sternotomy with continuous cardiac perfusion and moderate hypothermia. Two vents were inserted to provide sufficient relief to the heart during perfusion.

Introduction: Atherosclerosis is the underlying cause of multiple cardiovascular pathologies. The present-day clinical imaging modalities do not offer sufficient information on plaque composition or rupture risk. A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 4 (ADAMTS4) is a strongly upregulated proteoglycan-cleaving enzyme that is specific to cardiovascular diseases, inter alia, atherosclerosis.
