Alcohol is the most prevalent legal drug among university students, and it is used recreationally. The objectives of this study were to identify the perceived norms of alcohol use among university students, contrast the students' perception regarding peer alcohol use and the actual alcohol use prevalence, and compare the subjects' own alcohol use with their perception of peer alcohol use. A survey was performed on 275 students of a public university located in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), in 2008. The students' perception about peer alcohol use once in a lifetime and over the last 12 years was correct; but their perception regarding the last 30 days was overestimated. Students consume alcoholic beverages recreationally, mainly at parties and bars with friends and peers. Alcohol use is above established standards.

Background: Preliminary evaluations of 212 drinking offspring from the San Diego Prospective Study (SDPD) indicated that over 50% developed alcohol use disorder (AUD) by their mid-20s. The present analysis evaluated if those findings remained robust when the group increased to 454 individuals, a sample size that facilitated a search for potential contributors to the high AUD prevalence.
Methods: Semistructured interviews were used to evaluate lifetime AUD diagnoses in 224 daughters and 230 sons from the SDPS (N = 454) by mean age 26.

Context: Dopamine -monooxygenase (D M) is an essential enzyme in the organism that regioselectively converts dopamine into R-norepinephrine, the key step of the reaction, studied in this paper, is a hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) from dopamine to a superoxo complex on D M, forming a hydroperoxo intermediate and dopamine radical. It was found that the formation of a hydrogen bond between dopamine and the D M catalyst strengthens the substrate-enzyme interaction and facilitates the HAT which takes place selectively to give the desired enantiomeric form of the product. Six reactions leading to the hydroperoxo intermediate were analyzed in detail using theoretical and computational tools in order to identify the most probable reaction mechanism.

The aim of this study was to pilot an adapted version of an online relationships program with residents in treatment for alcohol and other drugs (AOD). The OurRelationship (OR) Program, which is based on Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, was piloted in a group-based format to determine whether residents' participation in the program would result in decreases in residents' destructive responses and increases in constructive responses to relationship conflict scenarios as well as reductions in negative affect experienced during these conflict scenarios. Residents ( = 104) across six residential facilities participated in the pilot over 4 weeks.

Introduction: : There is a need to assess the delivery of interventions to improve substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, as measured by the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) metrics. The goal was to characterize published articles reporting HEDIS® SUD measures and recommend future work on applying and investigating SUD HEDIS® metrics and their effect on SUD treatments.
Materials And Methods: The PRISMA-ScR scoping review protocol was used to find published work and investigate the most common reported baseline characteristics, HEDIS® metric outcomes, and knowledge gaps.
