"On-off" elution mechanism facilitates the rapid LC/MS/MS-based analysis of peptide antibiotics in human plasma.

J Chromatogr B Analyt Technol Biomed Life Sci

December 2024

Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Anti-Resistance Microbial Drugs, Department of Pharmacy, The Third Hospital of Changsha, Changsha 410015, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Individualized medication with peptide antibiotics, guided by therapeutic drug monitoring, is essential to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. Peptide antibiotics exhibit an "on-off" elution mechanism on a C18 column, leading to adsorption at the column inlet in all-aqueous conditions. Unlike small molecules, column length minimally influences their retention, with longer columns simply broadening peptide antibiotic peaks due to unnecessary post-column volume.

Background: Paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity (PSH) occurs with high prevalence among critically ill patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and is associated with worse outcomes. The PSH-Assessment Measure (PSH-AM) consists of a Clinical Features Scale and a diagnosis likelihood tool (DLT) intended to quantify the severity of sympathetically mediated symptoms and the likelihood that they are due to PSH, respectively, on a daily basis. Here, we aim to identify and explore the value of dynamic trends in the evolution of sympathetic hyperactivity following acute TBI using elements of the PSH-AM.

A normative database of Swahili-Chinese paired associates.

Behav Res Methods

January 2025

Institute of Developmental Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, Beijing Normal University, No.19 Xinjiekouwai Street, Haidian District, Beijing, 100875, China.

Over the past few decades, Swahili-English and Lithuanian-English word pair databases have been extensively utilized in research on learning and memory. However, these normative databases are specifically designed for generating study stimuli in learning and memory research involving native (or fluent) English speakers. Consequently, they are not suitable for investigations that encompass populations whose first language is not English, such as Chinese individuals.

OCCUPATIONAL APPLICATIONSResults from our exploratory study of restaurant worker mental models of injury and safety emphasize the need for improved occupational safety in the culinary industry through targeted interventions for chefs and managers. The analysis we performed showed that managers possess more integrated and coherent mental models of injury and safety than chefs, reflected in network parameters showing better organization of safety concepts. Kitchen training programs should focus on bridging gaps in safety awareness and mitigating hazards such as burns, cuts, slips, and equipment-related risks.

Self-assembled hole-selective contact for efficient Sn-Pb perovskite solar cells and all-perovskite tandems.

Nat Commun

January 2025

College of Materials Science and Engineering & Engineering Research Center of Alternative Energy Materials & Devices, Ministry of Education, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have displayed unpredictable potential in efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Yet most of SAMs are largely suitable for pure Pb-based devices, precisely developing promising hole-selective contacts (HSCs) for Sn-based PSCs and exploring the underlying general mechanism are fundamentally desired. Here, based on the prototypical donor-acceptor SAM MPA-BT-BA (BT), oligoether side chains with different length (i.
