Background/aims: Anti-tumor necrosis factor (Anti-TNF) agents have proven beneficial for the treatment of chronic non-infectious uveitis, yet rare neurological complications and demyelinating disease can occur with their use. Management of uveitis and neurological disease after developing these rare complications is not well understood. We sought to identify these specific cases and their outcomes through a retrospective observational case series.

Article Synopsis
  • Acute necrotizing encephalopathy of childhood (ANEC) is a serious neurological condition marked by quick-onset brain issues, often linked to viral infections, and has a high mortality rate with potential long-term effects for survivors.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is defined as a non-iatrogenic, non-traumatic separation of the coronary artery wall, which has gained considerable recognition as an important cause of acute coronary syndrome. Despite the emerging evidence, it is still frequently missed and requires a high index of suspicion, as failure to accurately identify SCAD promptly could prove fatal. SCAD is most prevalent among middle-aged women, although it can also be found in men and postmenopausal women.
