An individual's protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation) may contribute to health inequalities. Healthcare professionals (HCPs) experiences of the inclusivity and representativeness of PR services and knowledge of protected characteristics are unknown, however are vital for the identification and resolution of health inequalities.

Background: Perinatal mental health and substance use disorders contribute to adverse maternal outcomes. Women with disabilities experience increased risk for severe maternal morbidity (SMM). Context: Over 40% of pregnancies in the United States are unintended. Women with unintended pregnancies may be less likely to receive timely prenatal care and engage in healthy behaviors immediately before and during pregnancy. Limited research suggests that women with disabilities are more likely to have an unintended pregnancy, but to date no studies have assessed whether intendedness varies by extent of disability.

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are significant global health issues. This study utilized data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 to analyze trends in incidence, prevalence, and Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY) associated with HDP across 204 countries from 1990 to 2021. The analysis employed estimated annual percentage changes and an age-period-cohort model, stratifying data by age, year, geographical region, and sociodemographic index (SDI).

Background: Persons with disabilities are at higher risk of experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV) during the perinatal period than persons without disabilities. Although screening for IPV during the perinatal period is recommended by many organizations, little is known about screening rates for IPV by disability status.
Methods: Our objective was to compare rates of IPV screening during the perinatal period among persons with and without disabilities in the United States.
