Should we implement biomedical interventions like psychopharmaceuticals or brain stimulation that aim to improve morality in society? Since 2008, moral bioenhancement (MBE) has received considerable attention in bioethics, generating wide scholarly disagreement. However, reviews on the subject are few and either outdated or not structured in method. This paper addresses this gap by providing a scoping review of the last 15 years of debate on MBE (from 2008 to 2022).

Background: The connection between participants and their research team can affect how safe, informed, and respected a participant feels, and their willingness to complete a research project. Communication between researchers and participants is key to developing this connection, but there is little published work evaluating how communication during clinical research is conducted.

Purpose: This paper explores what communications happen (and how) with research participants in Australia post consenting to participate in clinical research.

Objective: To identify barriers and facilitators to family-level comfort with health-related social needs (HRSN) data collection and documentation in the pediatric clinical setting.

Study Setting And Design: This qualitative study was nested within a pragmatic randomized controlled trial on social care integration in the pediatric clinical setting. We used a hybrid random-purposive strategy to sample 60 caregivers of pediatric patients ages 0-25 presenting at two primary care clinics and one emergency department affiliated with a large pediatric healthcare system between September 2022 and 2023.

ACS Meas Sci Au

December 2024

Department of Environmental Health Sciences, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109, United States.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have become a major focus of research due to their widespread environmental presence and adverse health effects associated with human exposure. PFAS include legacy and emerging structures and are characterized by a range of functional groups and carbon-fluorine chains that vary in length (from fewer than 3 carbons to more than 7 carbons). Research has linked PFAS exposure to an array of health concerns, ranging from developmental and reproductive disorders to immune system impairments and an increased risk of certain cancers.

Aims: We offer a literature-driven, empirically informed, and highly warranted recommendation for a multilevel approach tailored to nurse practitioners. This approach aimed to drive change at the individual level (nurse practitioner), dyadic level (nurse-patient therapeutic relationship), and systems level (organisational culture, education, and policy) to strengthen nurse practitioners' capacity to deliver optimal opioid use disorder care.

Background: The opioid overdose epidemic is a global public health crisis, with the United States facing the most severe impact.
