Various materials are used to fill osteotomy defects created in the medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO). Our hypothesis was that a bone allograft would provide the osteotomy site bone healing within the expected time. We performed the MOWHTO using a cancellous bone allograft in 310 knees in 284 patients between 2000 and 2005. Internal fixation was achieved with a T-profile AO plate. Preoperative and postoperative radiographic measurements were taken and statistically processed. All patients were followed up for a period ranging from three to eight years, or 5.9 years on average. Implanted cancellous bone allografts

Myeloproliferative neoplasm-associated myelofibrosis is a clonal stem cell process characterized by pronounced bone marrow fibrosis associated with extramedullary hematopoiesis and splenomegaly. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) represents the only curative treatment leading to bone marrow fibrosis regression. Here we provide an in-depth skeletal characterization of myelofibrosis patients before and after allo-HSCT utilizing clinical high-resolution imaging, laboratory analyses, and bone biopsy studies.

Transfusion of blood products is a common lifesaving medical procedure in clinical practice. However, it poses the risk of potential adverse reactions for the recipient. Transfusion-associated graft-versus-host-disease (TA-GVHD) is a rare adverse event, fatal in >90% of cases.

The hindfoot is an uncommon site for malignant tumours. While limb salvage procedures are now more common for treating bone sarcoma, there is limited information available on hindfoot reconstruction alternatives because of its low incidence and its challenging outcomes. We present a case report of a man in his late 60s with synovial sarcoma affecting the right heel (calcaneus and soft tissue).

A common strategy for promoting bone allograft healing is the design of tissue-engineered periosteum (TEP) to orchestrate host-tissue infiltration. However, evaluating requires costly and time-consuming in vivo studies. Therefore, in vitro assays are necessary to expedite TEP designs.
