Objective: This study aimed to observe changes in serum glucose levels following the administration of 50 mL of 50% dextrose solution (D50) in hypoglycemic patients. Specifically, we seek to determine the prevalence of rebound hyperglycemia episodes, the peak effect, and the duration of action of a single dose of 50 mL D50.
Method: This prospective observational study was conducted at four emergency departments (two tertiary care hospitals and two secondary care hospitals) in Oman over a three-year period, from May 1, 2019, to April 30, 2022.

The external oblique intercostal (EOI) block is a relatively new fascial plane block that had been described for upper abdominal surgery. While it has had relatively good analgesia efficacy in the literature for various upper abdominal surgeries, it has yet to be proven to be effective as the sole analgesia technique. We present a 74-year-old Chinese female patient undergoing an open total pancreatectomy and splenectomy using the bilateral EOI block as the primary analgesia technique.

However, its consumption, especially in unregulated settings, can pose significant health risks due to potential toxicity and contamination with pesticides. We report the case of a 25-year-old male who presented with severe abdominal pain radiating to the chest, profound bradycardia (heart rate in the 20s), hypotension (systolic blood pressure in the 50s), and autonomic symptoms after ingesting unwashed fruit.
