The study of siblings has become increasingly central to developmental science. Sibling relationships have unique effects on development, and sibling designs allow researchers to isolate causal mechanisms in development. This volume emphasizes causal mechanisms in the social domain. We review the preceding chapters in relation to six topics: a multilevel modeling approach to the ecology of sibling relationships, unique contributions of sibling relationships to development, sibling similarity and dissimilarity, developmental stages, culture and class, and intervention studies with siblings. We conclude with insights regarding directions for future research.

The interest in chemical interactions between inorganic sulfur species and heme compounds has grown significantly in recent years due to their physiological relevance. The model system ferric N-acetyl microperoxidase 11 (NAcMP11Fe) enables the exploration of the mechanistic aspects of the interaction between the ferric heme group and binding sulfur ligands, without the constraints imposed by a protein matrix and the stabilizing effects of distal amino acids. In this study, we investigated the coordination of disulfane (HSSH) and its conjugate base hydrodisulfide (HSS) to NAcMP11Fe.

Depending on the environmental factors involved and the buffering capacity of an organism, different developmental outcomes are expected. Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic had significant impacts on youth health and well-being. Youth with prior inequities, such as those exposed to child maltreatment, may have experienced greater psychosocial challenges and long-term difficulties than their peers, including sustained interpersonal relationships problems. Given the importance of healthy relationships during adolescence and early adulthood, the significant impact the pandemic had on youth, and the potential disproportionate challenges for youth with a child maltreatment history, the purpose of the present study was to better understand changes in relational conflict among youth with and without a child maltreatment history from the perspectives of youth themselves.

Qualitative responses were analysed using thematic analysis.
