Reserpine functions as an anti-stress agent providing relaxation to animals under stressful conditions. An attempt was made to find out functions of reserpine in unstressed albino rats and its role in steroidogenesis. The effects of the drug (25 and 35 microg, im daily for 3-5 days) were observed by recording the changes in body weights, concentration of ascorbate (liver and adrenals) and cholesterol (liver, adrenal and testes) of the animals. A dose of 25 microg reserpine 3-5 days was ineffective as there were no significant changes after the treatment. On the other hand 35 microg reserpine was found to be effective because there was significant increase in body weights, levels of ascorbate and cholesterol in respective tissues after 3-5 days administration. Therefore it is clear that in unstressed animals reserpine is stimulatory for liver but inhibitory for adrenal and testes under high doses.

Bioethanol production is one of the key alternatives for fossil fuel use due to climate change. The study seeks to upscale tailor-made onsite enzyme blends for the bioconversion of cassava peels to bioethanol in simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) process using cassava peels-degrading fungi. The starch and cellulose contents of peels were determined.

Opioid dependence can occur in 6% to 10% of patients undergoing breast reconstruction. With the expansion of interdisciplinary initiatives to decrease opioid use after surgery, an updated look at the incidence of and risk factors for prolonged opioid dependence after free flap breast reconstruction is essential. We retrospectively identified all cases of free flap breast reconstruction completed at our institution from 2017 to 2020.

An open-label, phase IB/II study of abemaciclib with paclitaxel for tumors with CDK4/6 pathway genomic alterations.

ESMO Open

Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Background: Disruption of cyclin D-dependent kinases (CDKs), particularly CDK4/6, drives cancer cell proliferation via abnormal protein phosphorylation. This open-label, single-arm, phase Ib/II trial evaluated the efficacy of the CDK4/6 inhibitor, abemaciclib, combined with paclitaxel against CDK4/6-activated tumors.

Patients And Methods: Patients with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors with CDK4/6 pathway aberrations were included.
