Homeobox (HOX) A10, the regulator of embryonic morphogenesis and differentiation, is aberrantly expressed in several cancer types. Our previous study using microarray technology showed that significant up-regulation of HOXA10 occurs in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)-derived cell lines compared to human normal oral keratinocytes (HNOKs). The aim of the current study was to examine the status of HOXA10 mRNA and protein expression in OSCC-derived cell lines and human primary OSCCs. HOXA10 mRNA was up-regulated in six OSCC-derived cell lines compared with HNOKs and in primary OSCCs by using real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Immunohistochemistry data indicated that HOXA10 protein expression levels were consistent with mRNA expression status in OSCC-derived cell lines and primary OSCCs. Furthermore, HOXA10 expression status was correlated with the TNM stage (P<0.05). These results indicate that HOXA10 expression could contribute to cancer progression and prognosis and that HOXA10 may be a potential diagnostic marker and a therapeutic target for OSCCs.

Background: Interaction between mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cells plays a major role in OSCC progression. However, little is known about adipogenic differentiation alteration in OSCC-derived MSCs (OSCC-MSCs) and how these alterations affect OSCC growth.
Methods: MSCs were successfully isolated and cultured from normal gingival tissue, OSCC peritumoral tissue, and OSCC tissue.

Objective: Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is an innovative, non-invasive approach to cancer treatment, by using low-intensity ultrasound to trigger the activation of sonosensitizers localized within cancerous cells. This current study aimed to explore the therapeutic efficacy of a new sonosensitizer, Sinoporphyrin Sodium (DVDMS), under ultrasound irradiation, against oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)-derived SCC-154 cells, both in vitro and in vivo.
Methods: Fluorescence spectra, cytotoxicity assessments, uptake mechanisms, and subcellular distributions of DVDMS within the SCC-154 cell line were detected.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a highly prevalent and aggressive malignancy, with mortality rates reaching 60%, mainly due to its excessive diagnostic delay. MiRNAs, a class of crucial epigenetic gene-expression regulators, have emerged as potential diagnostic biomarkers, with >200 molecules exhibiting expressional dysregulation in OSCC. We had previously established an in silico methodology for the identification of the most disease-specific molecules by bridging genetics and epigenetics.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the variances in transcriptome gene expression of normal oral mucosa-derived mesenchymal stem cell (OM-MSC), oral leukoplakia-derived MSC (OLK-MSC) and oral squamous cell carcinoma-derived MSC(OSCC-MSC). as Additionally, the study aims to compare the in vitro proliferation, migration, invasion ability, and response to photodynamic therapy (PDT) of these three MSC, HOK, DOK, leuk1, and Cal27 cell lines.
Methods: HOK, DOK, leuk1, Cal27 cells were cultured in vitro.
