Among Bacillus subtilis riboflavin-resistant mutants we identified one, which differed from other regulatory mutants by overproduction of riboflavin and simultaneous upregulation of the rib C gene encoding flavokinase/FAD-synthase. Genetic and biochemical analysis showed that the ribU1 mutation determines a trans-acting factor that simultaneously regulates activity of riboflavin and truB-ribC-rpsO operons. Regulatory activity of the ribU1 mutation comprises about 10% of Rfn element activity on interaction with flavins. The ribUl mutation can be presumably ascribed to a gene of the transcriptional regulators family.

: To improve the solubility and permeability of Sparfloxacin (SPX) and enhance its antimicrobial activity in vitro, two unreported pharmaceutical crystalline salts were synthesized and characterized in this paper. One is a hydrated crystal of Sparfloxacin with Pimelic acid (PIA), another is a hydrated crystal of Sparfloxacin with Azelaic acid (AZA), namely, SPX-PIA-HO (2CHFNO·CHO·2HO) and SPX-AZA-HO (4CHFNO·2CHO·5HO). : The structure and purity of two crystalline salts were analyzed using solid-state characterization methods such as single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and infrared spectroscopy.

The arid mountainous region of Hail in Saudi Arabia has a variety of desert vegetation, some of which are conventionally used in Bedouin traditional medicine. These plants need scientific examination. This research seeks to examine using a thorough multi-analytical methodology that includes antibacterial and antioxidant assessments as well as computational modeling.

Members of species are able to enhance the level of available phosphorus (P) for plant absorption through mechanisms of P solubilization and mineralization. In our study, PE7 showed P-solubilizing activity in simple phosphate broth (SPB) medium, and acetic acid, iso-butyric acid, and iso-valeric acid were major organic acids responsible for the increase in soluble P and decrease in pH of SPB medium. In addition, strain PE7 released phytase on phytase-screening agar (PSA) medium, and analysis of semi-quantitative reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (sqRT-PCR) revealed that the gene expression was the highest at 1 day after incubation.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become precarious, warranting investments in antimicrobial discovery. To investigate the antibacterial activity of rosemary essential oil (REO), alone and in combination with selected conventional antibiotics. REO was subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing (including minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination) and investigation of anti-pre-biofilm and antibiofilm activities.

Flash column chromatographic fractionation of tree of heaven () stem and trunk bark extracts, guided by thin-layer chromatography (TLC)- assay and TLC-heated electrospray high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (HESI-HRMS/MS), lead to the isolation of six known compounds: (9,11)-13-hydroxy-9,11-octadecadienoic acid (13-HODE, ), (10,12)-9-hydroxy-10,12-octadecadienoic acid (9-HODE, ), hexadecanedioic acid (thapsic acid, ), 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid (juniperic acid, ), 16-feruloyloxypalmitic acid (alpinagalanate, ), and canthin-6-one (). Their structures were elucidated by HESI-HRMS/MS and one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. This is the first study identifying - in tree.
