By observing the fat-signal peak on the spectral display of a magnetic resonance (MR) imager while varying inversion time (TI), the authors determined the TI that produced the lowest fat peak for the best suppression of fat signal in subsequent short-TI inversion-recovery (STIR) MR imaging. In 25 volunteers who underwent imaging at multiple TIs, the TI that produced the lowest measured fat signal intensity was the same as that selected by means of TI tuning in 60% of cases and was within 5 msec in the remaining 40%.

Face recognition from 2D images is influenced by various factors, including lighting conditions, viewing direction, rotation, and polarity inversion. It has been proposed that these techniques affect face recognition by distorting shape from shading. This study investigates the perception of 3D face shape in 2D images using a gauge figure task.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is key in evaluating central cartilage tumors. The BACTIP (Birmingham Atypical Cartilaginous Tumour Imaging Protocol) protocol assesses central cartilage tumor risk based on the tumor size and degree of endosteal scalloping on MRI. It provides a management protocol for assessment, follow-up, or referral of central cartilage tumors.

Objective: To describe agreement in detection of joint swelling as the mandatory key of the diagnostic algorithm used in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This was done by comparing clinical examinations, ultrasonography (US), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and patient self-evaluation of the joints in the wrist and fingers (metacarpophalangeal joints (MCP) and proximal interphalangeal joints (PIP)) in an early untreated RA cohort.

Methods: 14 patients (8 women and 6 men, mean age ± standard deviation: 54.

Objective: Describe and characterize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearance of annulus fibrosus (AF) high-intensity zone (HIZ) in dogs suffering from intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

Methods: A single-center retrospective case series study. Databases were reviewed from 2011 to 2022 for dogs that underwent MRI diagnosis due to suspected IVDD.
