X-ray structures of two compounds isolated from wood knots of coniferous trees, namely dihydrokaempferol (3,5,8,13-tetrahydroxyflavanon) and lariciresinol (3,14-dimetoxy-7,10-epoxylignan-4,15,19-triol), are presented here. Diffraction data for the Dihydrokaempferol crystals were collected on a CAD4 diffractometer and on a synchrotron for the lariciresinol crystal. The investigated compounds inhibit lipid peroxidation and lariciresinol is additionally a good scavenger of superoxide radicals. The structural data presented in this work provide a useful basis for designing more active compounds with potential use as antioxidants.

A chemical investigation of the soil-derived fungus sp. XZ8 led to the isolation of five new indole alkaloids, trichindoles A-E (-), with diverse architectures, along with seven known analogues (-). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data analysis, and their absolute configurations were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and modified Mosher's method.

Phytochemical investigation of the roots of yielded a new phenylpropanoid, adenophoride () and a new polyacetylene, adenylene () along with four phenylpropanoids and a polyacetylene. The structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis including NMR, MS, UV and IR. Among the isolated compounds, phenylpropanoids including a new compound showed mild α-glucosidase inhibitory activities.

Background: Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) is a distructive quarantine insect pest that causes significant economic losses on cucurbit crops. To explore a green control approach, we investigated the behavioral responses of B. cucurbitae larvae and adults to bacterial suspensions, sediments, and supernatants derived from eight gut microbial strains across four distinct genera.

: We assessed the influence of long-term injection of magnoflorine (MAG) on memory acquisition in mice for the first time. : This isoquinoline alkaloid that belongs to the aporphines was isolated from the roots of by centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) using a biphasic solvent system composed of chloroform: methanol: water in the ratio 4:3:3 (//) with 20 mM of hydrochloric acid and triethylamine, within 64 min. : Our results indicated that long-term injection of MAG 20 mg/kg dose improve the long-term memory acquisition in mice that were evaluated in the passive avoidance (PA) test with no toxicity records.
