Effect of ultrasonic irradiation power on sonochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles.

Ultrason Sonochem

January 2021

Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, Escuela Superior de Apan, Carretera Apan-Calpulalpan Km.8, Col. Chimalpa, 43920 Apan, Hgo., Mexico. Electronic address:

In this work, optimized size distribution and optical properties in the colloidal synthesis of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) were obtained using a proposed ultrasonic irradiation assisted Turkevich-Frens method. The effect of three nominal ultrasound (20 kHz) irradiation powers: 60, 150, and 210 W have been analyzed as size and shape control parameters. The GNPs colloidal solutions were obtained from chloroauric acid (HAuCl) and trisodium citrate (CHNaO·2HO) under continuous irradiation for 1 h without any additional heat or stirring.

Insights into the Mechanism of Hydroxyl Radical Mediated Oxidations of 2-Aminopurine: A Computational and Sonochemical Product Analysis Study.

J Phys Chem B

July 2020

Departamento de Física y Química Teórica, Facultad de Química, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, México D. F., 04510, México.

Mechanistic details of hydroxyl radical (OH) mediated oxidations of 2-aminopurine (2AP) in the aqueous phase have been established in this study via a combination of DFT calculations (at the M05-2X/6-311+G(d,p) level with SMD solvation) and sonochemical end product analyses by the LC-Q-TOF-MS/MS method. Rate constants and branching ratios for single electron transfer (SET), two H-abstractions (HA), and seven radical adduct formation (RAF) reactions of OH with 2AP were evaluated using transition state theory (TST). The RAF at the C8-position of 2AP is noted as the dominant process, which constitutes almost 46.

The sonochemiluminescence in 10 M aqueous solutions of Ru(bpy)Cl was studied in the presence of NaOH and KOH (up to 0.4 M). The observed increase in the steady-state emission intensity from Ru(bpy) as compared with the intensity in neutral solutions was attributed to conversion of H resulting from water sonolysis to e.

Sonochemical transformation of thymidine: A mass spectrometric study.

Ultrason Sonochem

November 2015

Inter University Instrumentation Centre, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam 686560, Kerala, India; School of Environmental Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam 686560, Kerala, India. Electronic address:

Ultrasound is extensively used in medical field for a number of applications including targeted killing of cancer cells. DNA is one of the most susceptible entities in any kind of free radical induced reactions in living systems. In the present work, the transformation of thymidine (dT) induced by ultrasound (US) was investigated using high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-Q-ToF-MS).
