Synthesis of blue amorphous TiO2 and Ti(n)O(2n-1) by the impulse plasma in dielectric liquid is presented. The impulse plasma in liquid enables us to quench from plasma state, by which we can synthesize nanomaterials, metastable materials, etc. By the impulse plasma between titanium rods submerged into water, we have synthesized blue colored amorphous TiO2 nanoparticles suspended in water and black titanium monoxide at the bottom. Different types of titania oxides like Ti3O, TiO, Ti2O3, Ti4O7 were produced by the impulse plasma in different water temperatures (3, 30, 60, and 90 degrees C respectively). High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy analysis showed that the amorphous TiO2 contains anatase nanocrystals with less than 10 nm. UV-vis absorption spectra of the blue TiO2 nanoparticles showed higher absorbance of visible light than the commercially available pure anatase nanoparticles.

The effects of social isolation (SI) during middle age remain unclear, so we tested the hypothesis that SI would lead to an increase in impulsive choice (IC), anxiety-like behavior, and metabolic dysfunction in middle-aged rats. Male and female rats were housed individually or in groups of four with same-sex housing mates at 11 months of age. Two months later, IC behavior was assessed using a delay-discounting task and anxiety-like behavior through a novelty-suppressed feeding (NSF) task.

To elucidate the potential roles of presynaptic and postsynaptic serotonergic activity in impulsivity traits, we investigated the relationship between self-reported impulsiveness and serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and 5-HT2A receptors in healthy individuals. In this study, 26 participants completed 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography with [C]DASB and [C]MDL100907. To quantify 5-HTT and 5-HT2A receptor availability, the binding potential (BP) of [C]DASB and [C]MDL100907 was derived using the simplified reference tissue model with cerebellar gray matter as the reference region.

The Particle Time of Flight (PTOF) diagnostic is a chemical vapor deposition diamond-based detector and is the only diagnostic for measuring nuclear bang times of low yield (<1013) shots on the National Ignition Facility. Recently, a comprehensive study of detector impulse responses revealed certain detectors with very fast and consistent impulse responses with a rise time of <50 ps, enabling low yield burn history measurements. At the current standoff of 50 cm, this measurement is possible with fast 14 MeV neutrons from deuterium-tritium (DT) fusion plasmas.
