We apply a recently developed renormalization-group (RG) method to study synchronization in a one-dimensional chain of phase-coupled oscillators in the regime of weak randomness. The RG predicts how oscillators with randomly distributed frequencies and couplings form frequency-synchronized clusters. Although the RG was originally intended for strong randomness, i.e., for distributions with long tails, we find good agreement with numerical simulations even in the regime of weak randomness. We use the RG flow to derive how the correlation length scales with the width of the coupling distribution in the limit of large coupling. This leads to the identification of a universality class of distributions with the same critical exponent nu . We also find universal scaling for small coupling. Finally, we show that the RG flow is characterized by a universal approach to the unsynchronized fixed point, which provides physical insight into low-frequency clusters.

We analyze the single-photon band structure and the transport of a single photon in a one-dimensional coupled-spinning-resonator chain. The time-reversal symmetry of the resonators chain is broken by the spinning of the resonators, instead of external or synthetic magnetic field. Two nonreciprocal single-photon band gaps can be obtained in the coupled-spinning-resonator chain, whose width depends on the angular velocity of the spinning resonator.

The emergence of spinon quasiparticles, which carry spin but lack charge, is a hallmark of collective quantum phenomena in low-dimensional quantum spin systems. While the existence of spinons has been demonstrated through scattering spectroscopy in ensemble samples, real-space imaging of these quasiparticles within individual spin chains has remained elusive. In this study, we construct individual Heisenberg antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 chains using open-shell [2]triangulene molecules as building blocks.

The synergistic optical, electronic, and chemical properties of metal nanoparticles present in close proximity have potential applications in energy, medicine, and sustainability. Fundamental studies and application development based on spontaneous self-assembly of one-dimensional (1D) chains of metal nanoparticles without external organization agencies have been pursued for over four decades. The spontaneous formation of 1D chains in a solution of stabilized spherical nanoparticles may be driven by the emergence of local anisotropy due to dipolar interaction, representing a trapped non-equilibrium state.

Five alkali metal manganese(III) fluorophosphates, KMn(POF)F (I), RbMn(POF)F (II), RbMn(POF)(PO)F (III), RbMn(POF)(PO)F (IV), and CsMn(POF)F (V), were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method. The monofluorophosphate anion (POF) groups work as "chemical scissors" to promote low-dimensional spin structures with the aid of alkali metal cations. I and II had an = 2 uniform chain structure formed by corner-sharing -MnOF octahedra.

In a systematic study, six pseudopolymorphic coordination polymers containing the ditopic 1,3-di(pyridin-4-yl)urea ligand (4bpu) constructed with d metal cations, possessing the formula {[M(4bpu)I]S} [(M = Zn, Cd and Hg), (S = MeOH or EtOH)], namely Zn-MeOH, Zn-EtOH, Cd-MeOH, Cd-EtOH, Hg- and Hg-EtOH were obtained. The title compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (SC-XRD), elemental analysis (CHN), FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The diffraction studies show that these compounds are isostructural 1D zig-zag chain coordination polymers which is also confirmed using XPac 2.
