Unveiling Charge Carrier Dynamics at Organic-Inorganic S-Scheme Heterojunction Interfaces: Insights From Advanced EPR.

Adv Mater

December 2024

Laboratory of Solar Fuel, Faculty of Materials Science and Chemistry, China University of Geosciences, 68 Jincheng Street, Wuhan, 430078, P. R. China.

Understanding charge carrier transfer at heterojunction interfaces is critical for advancing solar energy conversion technologies. This study utilizes continuous wave (CW), pulse, and time-resolved (TR) electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to explore the radical species formed at the TAPA (tris(4-aminophenyl)amine)-PDA (Terephthaldicarboxaldehyde)/ZnInS (TP/ZIS) heterojunction interface. CW and pulse EPR identify stable radical defects localized near the interface, accessible to water molecules.

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory/Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemical Energy Storage, Liaocheng University China

Lead-free CsAgBiCl double perovskite (CsAgBiCl-DP) material, as a substitute for lead halide perovskite materials, has the advantages of environmental friendliness and high stability and has attracted much attention. However, the photoluminescence and conductive properties of CsAgBiCl-DP have not been well studied. In this study, we prepared CsAgBiCl-DP single crystals (SCs) by coordination-dissolution and coordination-precipitation method.

The urgent need to mitigate water pollution and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14)-Life below water, necessitates developing efficient and eco-friendly wastewater treatment technologies. This research addresses this challenge by photocatalytic degradation of terephthalic acid, a precursor for PET bottles using environment-friendly and biocompatible photocatalysts. The 1D/2D nanocomposite comprising zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods and functionalized graphitic carbon nitride (Zn-TG) nanosheets were synthesized and thoroughly characterized.

Difluorocarbene Generation via a Spin-Forbidden Excitation under Visible Light Irradiation.

J Am Chem Soc

November 2024

State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Nankai University, Weijin Road No. 94, Tianjin 300071, China.

The generation of difluorocarbene from difluoromethane bis(sulfonium ylide) through spin-forbidden excitation under irradiation with 450 nm blue light was reported. The formation of difluorocarbene was confirmed by its reaction with styrene derivatives for the generation of difluorocyclopropanation and insertion into RX-H bonds (X = O, S) for the generation of RXCFH. The spin-forbidden excitation mechanism for the formation of difluorocarbene from difluoromethane bis(sulfonium ylide) was supported by spectroscopic and kinetic studies as well as computational chemistry.
