This study presents a longitudinal analysis of external quality assessment (EQA) results for erythropoietin (EPO) determinations conducted between 2017 and 2022 with a continuously increasing number of participating laboratories. The aim of this work was to evaluate participant performance and methodological aspects. In each of the eleven EQA surveys, a blinded sample set of lyophilized human serum containing one sample with lower EPO concentrations (L) and one with higher EPO concentrations (H) was sent to the participating laboratories.

There is a critical need to understand the effectiveness of serum elicited by different SARS-CoV-2 vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 variants. We describe the generation of reference reagents comprised of post-vaccination sera from recipients of different primary vaccines with or without different vaccine booster regimens in order to allow standardized characterization of SARS-CoV-2 neutralization in vitro. We prepared and pooled serum obtained from donors who received a either primary vaccine series alone, or a vaccination strategy that included primary and boosted immunization using available SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines (BNT162b2, Pfizer and mRNA-1273, Moderna), replication-incompetent adenovirus type 26 vaccine (Ad26.

Urine is a very interesting and attractive biofluid for biomarker discovery and medical diagnosis research due to its non-invasiveness collection and richness of potential biomarkers. Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy applied on urine samples is a promising tool that could be used as a screening method for various diseases. However, during method development, frozen urine is more accessible, especially for inter-laboratory studies, whereas in routine application fresh urine is more convenient.

For successful elucidation of a food-borne infection chain, the availability of high-quality sequencing data from suspected microbial contaminants is a prerequisite. Commonly, those investigations are a joint effort undertaken by different laboratories and institutes. To analyze the extent of variability introduced by differing wet-lab procedures on the quality of the sequence data we conducted an interlaboratory study, involving four bacterial pathogens, which account for the majority of food-related bacterial infections: spp.
