Ovarian cyst is a common gynecologic finding. Renal cysts develop in 15% of women older than 70 years, and nephroptosis in 20% of the population, primarily in women. Herein, we review these conditions and present a case in which the patient had a cystic kidney in combination with nephroptosis. At vaginal ultrasound performed with the patient in an upright position, the kidney slid down into the pelvis, thus imitating an ovarian mass. At laparoscopy, the patient was positioned head down, and the kidney, lying near the diaphragm, was not seen.

Background: This study evaluates the contouring variability among observers using MR images reconstructed by different sequences and quantifies the differences of automatic segmentation models for different sequences.
Patients And Methods: Eighty-three patients with pelvic tumors underwent T1-weighted image (T1WI), contrast enhanced Dixon T1-weighted (T1dixonc), and T2-weighted image (T2WI) MR imaging on a simulator. Two observers performed manual delineation of the bladder, anal canal, rectum, and femoral heads on all images.
Hydatid cysts, caused by the parasite, predominantly affect the liver and lungs, but can also impact other organs such as the kidneys, brain, and muscles. Infection occurs when individuals ingest eggs from contaminated food or water, leading to cyst formation primarily in the liver. While hydatid cysts are commonly found in various endemic regions, muscular involvement is rare, particularly in the psoas muscle.

This report presents the case of a 68-year-old female patient with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who experienced persistently elevated alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels following resection of the primary liver tumor. The patient had previously undergone transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) and liver tumor resection, but postoperative AFP levels continued to rise, suggesting the possibility of extrahepatic metastasis. PET-CT scans revealed an irregular soft tissue mass in the recto-uterine pouch, which was later confirmed as a HCC metastasis through needle biopsy.

Paragangliomas, a type of extra-adrenal tumour, albeit rare, are dangerous due to their high metastatic potential and risk of hypertensive crisis from massive catecholamine release. It typically presents with sympathetic overdrive symptoms such as diaphoresis, headache, and palpitation, accompanied by substantially high plasma metanephrines level and mass on contrasted computed tomography abdomen and pelvis, whilst some are found incidentally. In this report, we discuss a case of an extra-adrenal lesion located near susceptible major structures with extensive vascularisation, in a patient with near-death experience.

SummaryWe report a case of small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcaemic type, a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer, causing an acute kidney injury. A woman in her mid-30s presented with a large pelvic mass and abdominal distention, this was associated with rapidly deteriorating renal function, which did not improve with standardised kidney injury treatment. There was a high suspicion of ovarian cancer.
