Background: The etiology of isolated right ventricular hypertrophy (RVH) is distinct from other forms of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. RVH is typically seen in the setting of pulmonary valve stenosis or Tetralogy of Fallot. A rare cause of isolated RVH is premature closure of the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in utero that results in pulmonary hypertension. This can have a range of outcomes, from spontaneous resolution to fetal demise.
Methods: This case report describes a term infant who presented with respiratory distress and striking isolated RVH, pulmonary hypertension, and no PDA. She was treated conservatively with supplemental oxygen.
Results: The patient was gradually weaned off oxygen over the course of two weeks and follow-up echocardiography showed resolution of her RVH and pulmonary hypertension by 14 weeks of age.
Conclusions: The presentation and course of this patient with severe isolated RVH is consistent with spontaneous premature closure of the ductus arteriosus in utero.

Background: Distal radius physeal injuries can result in growth arrest and progressive deformity in children. Ulnar epiphysiodesis may be used to prevent deformity in the skeletally immature child; however, predicting success may be challenging. The purpose of this study was to (1) develop a method to predict successful ulnar epiphysiodesis, and (2) determine the utility of adding a sliding bone autograft as an adjunct to achieving successful epiphysiodesis.

Introduction: The Molecularly Informed Lung Cancer Treatment in a Community Cancer Network: A Pragmatic Consortium™ (MYLUNG) clinical trial platform aims to advance the use of precision medicine in patients with non-small cell lung cancer through a series of prospective and iterative clinical trials. Timely patient accrual onto oncology clinical trials is a known practice challenge and impaired accrual rates can lead to premature trial closure or properly powered trial outcomes. The US Oncology Network recently implemented a clinical pharmacist (ClinReview) initiative to provide remote clinical services to screen patients for enrollment onto MYLUNG Protocol 2.

The calvarial bones of the infant skull are linked by transient fibrous joints known as sutures and fontanelles, which are essential for skull compression during birth and expansion during postnatal brain growth. Genetic conditions caused by pathogenic variants in FGFR2, such as Apert, Pfeiffer, Crouzon syndromes, result in calvarial deformities due to premature suture fusion and a persistently open anterior fontanelle (AF). In this study we investigated how Fgfr2 regulates AF closure by leveraging mouse genetics and single-cell transcriptomics.

Objective: To assess the outcome of prolonged treatment with paracetamol in the closure of hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus in preterm newborns.
Patients And Method: Retrospective study in VLBW infants with echocardiographic and clinical diagnosis of hs-PDA who received treatment with intravenous paracetamol at 15 mg/kg every 6 hours for 6 days.

A five-year-old female came with a history of frequent rubbing of the right eye and noticed prolonged elevation of her head since birth, informed by her mother. On ocular examination, the best corrected visual acuity shown in the right eye was 1/60, and the left eye was 6/6, with proptosis in both eyes. Fundus examination showed both eyes having pale discs.
