Published: November 2009

A facile approach is demonstrated for the preparation of mesoporous carbon nanowires in nanotubes, mesoporous carbon nanotubes and mesoporous carbon nanothorn microspheres by combining surfactant-templating self-assembly of organic resols with different MnO(2) hard templates, and they deliver excellent capacitive performance for supercapacitor applications.

Encapsulating enzymes in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) enhances enzyme protection and improves the accuracy of inhibitor recognition and screening. Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) has been widely used as a host matrix for enzyme immobilization. However, challenges such as the microporous structure and hydrophobicity of ZIF-8, along with the protonation of 2-methylimidazole, hinder the maintenance of activity and the rapid formation of composite.

Magnetic activated carbon (MAC) derived from agricultural waste shows significant potential for the removal of norfloxacin (NOR) from wastewater. However, understanding the removal mechanisms, efficiency, and recyclability of MAC produced from walnut green husk and ferrocene for NOR remains a challenge. In this study, walnut green husk-based MAC (HQP-MC) was synthesized, and changes in surface functionality, mechanisms for NOR removal, and major influencing factors were investigated.

Hot dry rock (HDR) geothermal development faces challenges due to the difficulty of stimulating fluid flow and heat-exchange fracture channels within deep, low-porosity, and low-permeability reservoirs. A liquid nitrogen cyclic cold shock method was proposed, using liquid nitrogen as a fracturing fluid. The large temperature difference between the liquid nitrogen and the hot rock induces thermal stress, forming a complex pore-fracture network.

Recently, significant breakthroughs have been made in the exploration of shale gas in the Lower Cambrian black shale of the Sichuan Basin, indicating a promising commercial extraction potential. However, there remains considerable controversy regarding the pore structural characteristics for this shale formation, especially in the deep-water region. To address this, this paper focused on core samples from two shale gas wells (Xa1 and Xb1) located in the slope-basin facies zone during the Early Cambrian.

The low conductivity of sulfur substances and the fussy effect of lithium polysulfides (LPS) limit the practical application of lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs). In this work, NiS is in situ synthesized on N-doped 3D carbon nanofibers with an optimized pore structure as a cathode material for LSBs. The conductive carbon nanofiber skeleton with a hierarchical (micropore-mesopore-macropore) structure etched by Cd can reduce the interface resistance of the cathode and remiss volume expansion during charge-discharge progress.
