Objective: To investigate the effects and of toxicity mechanism of 2,2',4,4'-TETRABDE (BDE-47) on TT3, TT4 and TSH in C57BL/6 mice.
Methods: C57BL/6 mice were divided randomly into 4 groups, and given with corn oil (control group) and 1 micromol/(kg x d), 10 micromol/(kg x day) and 100 micromol/(kg x day) BDE-47 for 4 days through intraperitoneal injection respectively. After collecting the bloods, livers and thyroids, the T3, T4 and TSH levels of serum were detected by electro chemiluminescenc (ECLI), thyroid peroxidase (TPO) activities in thyroid by guaiacol method and type-I deiodinase (DI) in liver by CHOPRA method.
Results: Compared with the control group, the level of TT4 decreased significantly in the three BDE-47 dose groups, TT3 in the medium and high dose groups decreased significantly, and the activities of DI increased in the medium and high dose groups significantly (P < 0.05), whereas TSH level in serum and activity of TPO in thyroid in the three dose groups weren't statistically significant comparing with control group.
Conclusion: BDE-47 could affect the homeostasis of thyroid hormone system, and activity of type-I deiodinase (DI) in liver being changed might be the one of toxicity mechanisms.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a syndrome that arises from acute or chronic liver failure. This study was devised to assess the impact of a combination of boswellic acid (BA) and low doses of gamma radiation (LDR) on thioacetamide (TAA)-induced HE in an animal model. The effect of daily BA treatment (175 mg/kg body weight, for four weeks) and/or fractionated low-dose γ-radiation (LDR; 0.

Background: Choosing effective devices (inhaled corticosteroid [ICS]-long-acting β2 agonist [LABA] combination inhalers) as maintenance treatment is critical for managing patients with asthma. We aimed to compare ICS/LABA combination efficacy, safety, and adherence across inhaler types and components in patients newly diagnosed with asthma.
Methods: Utilizing South Korea's National Health Insurance Service data, we conducted a population-based cohort study involving patients aged 18-80 years, newly diagnosed with asthma who received ICS/LABA combination therapy between January 2016 and December 2020.

Background: Paraquat (PQ) is a widely used pesticide, can cause severe intoxication and respiratory failure. Myrtenol (Mrl), an essential oil derived in various plants, exhibits several biological properties, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. This study aims to investigate the protective potential of Mrl against oxidative stress and inflammation caused by PQ exposure.

Background: Agonistic monoclonal antibodies targeting 4-1BB/CD137 have shown preclinical promise, but their clinical development has been limited by severe liver toxicity or limited efficacy. Therefore, a safe and efficient immunostimulatory molecule is urgently needed for cancer immunotherapy.
Methods: A novel anti-MSLN×4-1BB bispecific antibody (bsAb) was generated via antibody engineering, and its affinity and activity were detected via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), flow cytometry, and T-cell activation and luciferase reporter assays.
