1. The solubility of mustard (H) in water and in molar sodium chloride was found to be 5.8 x 10(-3) molar and 3.2 x 10(-3) molar respectively or 0.92 mg. per ml. and 0.5 mg. per ml. Solubility curves have been drawn and the usefulness of this method in examining the homogeneity of H preparations as well as in establishing their solubility, is discussed. 2. Certain detergents increase the solubility of H in water. The solubility was found to increase with the concentration of detergent. 3. Many detergents were found to affect the interfacial tension between H and water so that with slight agitation liquid H breaks up into minute droplets. This in turn greatly accelerates the rate of solution.

The present study aimed to investigate the ability of an aqueous extract derived from mustard seed meal to counteract the effects of endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on the intestinal epithelium. Caco-2 cells were cultured together with HT29-MTX and used as a cellular model to analyze critical intestinal parameters, such as renewal, integrity, innate immunity, and signaling pathway. Byproducts of mustard seed oil extraction are rich in soluble polysaccharides, proteins, allyl isothiocyanates, and phenolic acids, which are known as powerful antioxidants with antimicrobial and antifungal properties.

The present research primarily focuses on Brassica juncea's physiological and cytological responses to low and high temperature stress at 4 °C and 44 °C respectively, along with elucidating the protective role of 28-Homobrassinolide (28-homoBL). Cytological investigations performed in floral buds of Brassica juncea L. under temperature (24, 4, 44 °C) stress conditions depict the presence of some abnormalities associated with cytomixis such as chromosome stickiness or agglutination, pycnotic nature of chromatin, irregularities in spindle formation, disoriented chromatins, and non-synchronous chromatin material condensation in Brassicaceae family that subsisted at diploid level (2n = 36).
