1. Rabbits were rendered very hypersensitive by relatively small doses of green streptococci given intracutaneously, and somewhat less hypersensitive by similar doses of heat-killed vaccine prepared from hemolytic streptococci. 2. Animals receiving the same doses intravenously gave, upon subsequent testing, lesions slightly more marked than normal controls; but these lesions were qualitatively hard and nodular compared with the large edematous lesions in the cutaneously sensitized group. 3. There was no parallelism between the degree of cutaneous or ophthalmic hypersensitivity and agglutinin titer in the blood serum. 4. Bacterial hypersensitivity to whole streptococci appears to depend more upon previously induced focal infection than upon circulating antibodies.

Introduction: Infants and young children typically have the highest age-related risk of invasive meningococcal disease. The immunogenicity and safety of a single primary dose and a booster of a meningococcal A/C/W/Y tetanus toxoid conjugate vaccine (MenACWY-TT; Nimenrix) in infants were evaluated.
Methods: In this phase 3b, open-label, single-arm study, healthy 3-month-old infants received a single Nimenrix dose followed by a booster at age 12 months (1 + 1 series).

Background: In recent years, cases of leishmaniosis have been described in animals housed in captivity in zoos in Spain [Bennett's wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus rufogriseus), orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus pygameus), and European otter (Lutra lutra)]. Some of these zoological parks are in endemic areas for both human and animal leishmaniosis, thus it should be very important to include this zoonosis in the differential diagnosis.
Methods: The study was carried out in two zoological parks in Madrid, Madrid Zoo and Faunia, and analyzed seven meerkats.

The present study aims to better understand the nature of currently circulating GPV strains and their pathological impact on the immune system during natural outbreaks among different duck breeds in Egypt. For this purpose, 99 ducks (25 flocks) of different breeds, aged 14-75 days, were clinically examined, and 75 tissue pools from the thymus, bursa of Fabricius, and spleen were submitted for virus detection and identification. Clinical and postmortem findings were suggestive of GPV infection.

A sandwich electrochemical immunosensor was proposed for the sensitive detection of protective antigen ( PA) toxin based on cadmium sulphide nanocrystals (CdS NCs) and polypyrrole-gold nanoparticle-modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (PPy-AuNPs/MWCNTs). Herein, PPy-AuNPs/MWCNTs were used as a biocompatible and conducting matrix for immobilization of rabbit anti-PA antibody [RαPA antibody, capturing antibody (Ab1)] and to facilitate excellent electrical conductivity. PPy-AuNPs/MWCNTs were synthesized through a one-step chemical reaction of pyrrole and Au on the surface of MWCNTs.

The cornea is the primary refracting surface of the eye, requiring precise curvature to ensure optimal vision. Any distortion in its shape may result in significant visual impairment. Corneal ectasias, such as keratoconus (KC), is characterized by gradual thinning and protrusion of the thinned area, due to biomechanical weakening of the tissue, leading to astigmatism and vision loss.
