Background: There is a global consensus that respiratory tract infections are the major causes of morbidity and mortality among children. In this study, we aimed to compare the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections among children admitted to hospital with acute respiratory infections. We also opted to identify the predictors of paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission.

Background: Vaccination prevents seasonal influenza and its complications, particularly among high-risk populations. The COVID-19 pandemic has been reported to impact healthcare behaviors and vaccination patterns. This study aims to assess influenza vaccination coverage and changes in vaccination settings among Canadian adults from the 2018-2019 to the 2023-2024 seasons.

Unlabelled: The study highlights the significant changes in respiratory virus epidemiology following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.
Method: In this single-centre retrospective study, the virological readouts of adenovirus (AdV), influenza virus A (IAV), influenza virus B (IBV), parainfluenza viruses (PIV) 1, 2, 3, 4, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and coupled enterovirus and rhinovirus (EV/RV) were extracted from the respiratory specimens of paediatric patients in Hong Kong from January 2015 to February 2024. The subjects were stratified into five age groups.

The H3N2 subtype of the influenza A virus continues to be a notable public health issue due to its association with seasonal epidemics and severe human morbidity. The constrained effectiveness of current antiviral medications, combined with the inevitable emergence of drug-resistant variants, mandates the exploration of innovative therapeutic approaches. This study focuses on the identification of phytocompounds from with the potential to target hemagglutinin, viral protein involved in viral entry by binding to sialyl glycoconjugates receptors on the surface of host cells.

Background: Respiratory viral infections are common and are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. We evaluated the impact of universal masking implemented during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on other healthcare-associated respiratory viral infections (HA-RIs) in an academic medical center.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed among all inpatients aged ≥18 years admitted between 1 May 2019 and 30 June 2022.
