Objective: To investigate the effects of Intralipid injection on hemodynamics and pharmacodynamics of mongrel dogs with bupivacaine-induced cardiac depression.

Methods: Fourteen dogs were randomly divided into Intralipid injection group (the experiment group) and normal saline group (the control group). 0.5% bupivacaine was administrated at a constant rate until the mean arterial pressure (MAP) decreased to 60% of the basic value. Intralipid injection was administered in the experiment group. The hemodynamic parameters were recorded and blood samples were taken from femoral artery at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 min after stopping bupivacaine infusion for determination of plasma concentration by HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by Drug and Statistics soft version 2.0.

Results: After the treatment of Intralipid injection, MAP, CO, HR increased significantly, compared to those of the control group (P < 0.05). The AUC(o-t) was (192 +/- 34)mg x L(-1) x min(-1) versus (271 +/- 81) mg x L(-1) x min(-1) and the AUC(0-infinity) was (231 +/- 62) mg x L(-1) x min(-1) versus (368 +/- 140) mg x L(-1) x min(-1) in the experiment group and the control group respectively. Vz (4.5 +/- 1.1 L/kg versus 3.3 +/- 0.9 L/kg) of bupivacaine in the experiment group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05).

Conclusion: Intravenous infusion of Intralipid have beneficial effects on the hemodynamics of mongrel dogs with bupivacaine-induced cardiac depression. One of the mechanism of the beneficial effects was probably that Intralipid injection increases the apparent volume of bupivacaine distribution and that decreases blood concentration. [Key words]

The fast-growing filed of long-acting depots for subcutaneous (SC) administration holds significant potential to enhance patient adherence to treatment regimens, particularly in the context of chronic diseases. Among them, injectable forming lyotropic liquid crystals (LCCs) consisting of hexagonal mesophases represent an attractive platform due to their remarkable highly ordered microstructure enabling the sustained drug release. These systems are especially relevant for peptide drugs, as their use is limited by their short plasma half-life and inherent poor stability.

Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease triggered by dental plaque, often presents challenges in management, particularly in severe cases where mechanical debridement alone may be insufficient. As a result, adjunctive therapies, particularly localized drug delivery systems with both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, are essential to enhance the efficacy of periodontitis management. In this study, we developed a multifunctional hydrogel by incorporating a salicylic acid-choline deep eutectic solvent (DES) into a chitosan/β-glycerol phosphate sodium (CS/GP) hydrogel matrix for the treatment of periodontitis.

Objectives: The goal of this study was to estimate and compare the prospective therapeutic impacts of different types of bioflavonoids (flavonols, flavanones, and isoflavones) on acute kidney injury (AKI) induced by glycerol in male rats.

Methods: Fifty adult male albino rats (Sprague-Dawley) were separated into five groups: G1, control; G2, rats injected (i.m.

Chitosan double-stranded RNA nanocomplexes for Piezodorus guildinii control.

Background: Piezodorus guildinii (Westwood, Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) causes economic losses in soybean crops by diminishing productivity, impacting grain size, oil content, and germination power. RNA interference (RNAi), a conserved gene regulation process initiated by double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), may be used as a safe technique in integrated pest management strategies. Conjugating dsRNA with cationic polymers, which protect dsRNA from degradation has shown to enhance this response.

Aquaporins (AQPs) are transmembrane proteins that transport water, small solutes, and molecules across cell membranes. Studies have reported the role of AQPs in the activation, migration, and proliferation of immune cells, thus modulating the pathogenesis of autoimmune disease. In joints, the enhanced AQP4 expression exaggerates pathological changes like hydrarthrosis, acidosis, and hyperosmotic stress-inducing dysfunction of the articular chondrocytes, leading to articular cartilage destruction in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA).
