We demonstrate what we believe is the first compact laser system for generating ultrashort microjoule-energy optical pulses. Linearly chirped pulses from monolithic tunable Bragg-reflection laser diodes were amplified in a diode-pumped two-stage erbium-doped fiber amplifier and compressed with a grating-pair compressor. The laser diodes had their emission wavelengths at 1.538 and 1.562 microm. The highest pulse energies obtained were 2 microJ at the repetition frequencies of 1-10 kHz and were at the saturation energy level of the fiber amplifier. The shortest duration of compressed pulses is 1.8 ps.

Purpose: RVVC is defined as four or more episodes of candidiasis in a 12-month period. Conventional treatment is complex and often involves long-term medication use or multiple treatments. ABL therapy is a promising treatment option as it is acceptable to women and has only rare side effects.

A new aptamer-based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) system has been designed to detect Hg that utilizes near-infrared (NIR)-to-NIR gold nanoparticle coated NaYF:Yb,Tm,Gd up-conversion nanoparticles (AuNPs@NaYF:Yb,Tm,Gd UCNPs) as probes. The AuNPs@NaYF:Yb,Tm,Gd UCNPs were prepared and excited by near-infrared light (980 nm) which emitted at a near-infrared wavelength (808 nm) using an inexpensive infrared continuous wave laser diode. The AuNPs@NaYF:Yb,Tm,Gd UCNPs were conjugated with Hg aptamers.

The utilization of zinc oxide nanoparticles is thought to augment wound healing because of their antibacterial characteristics and capacity to stimulate cellular regeneration, especially in instances of minor burn injuries. On the other hand, it has been shown that tissue regeneration is aided by low-power laser therapy via photobiomodulation. Zinc oxide nanoparticles and low-power laser therapy are the two therapeutic modalities that will be compared in this study in order to assess how well they promote healing after burn injury and provide important new information on improved wound care techniques.

Fugitive or diffuse methane emissions constitute an important source of damage to the environment, much greater even than CO2 both over a time span of 20 years and over a longer time span of 100. It is therefore of preeminent importance to undertake all the efforts necessary to implement new tools, protocols, and methods that contribute to the identification and measurement of these emissions to implement site-specific actions of mitigation, repair, and conscious management of the emitting plants. Among the remote sensing and leak detection technologies currently used, the tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) method plays a relevant role.

Devices utilizing high-quality single crystals are anticipated to achieve significantly enhanced performance. In this work, we present a high-performance vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) based on a single-crystal CsPbBr microplatelet, fabricated through a simple solution process and sandwiched between two distributed Bragg reflector (DBRs).
