Androgenetic alopecia is a fairly common disorder which causes serious aesthetic and psychological problems. The paper discusses the etiology, diagnostics and possible treatment of androgenetic alopecia in women. Preparations for both general and external use in treatment of this dermatosis have been presented herein.

Follicular porokeratosis (FPK) is a rare subtype of porokeratosis. Follicular porokeratosis mainly occurs in men and may be localized or diffuse. Involvement of the scalp is rarely reported, and we found only one case of alopecia due to scalp FPK.

Cosmetic procedures carry inherent risks of adverse events. Though rarely reported, transient and permanent alopecia are potential complications of these procedures. We report the case of a 35-year-old woman who developed pain and patches of nonscarring alopecia with erythema and edema following aesthetic application of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) on the face and along the frontal hairline.

Discoid lupus erythematosus is a chronic, recurring, autoimmune skin disease causing annular, scarring plaques on the head and neck. Deucravacitinib, a tyrosine kinase 2 inhibitor in the Janus kinase inhibitor family, represents an emerging treatment option in systemic lupus erythematosus with potential applicability to discoid lupus erythematosus. We describe a 48-year-old woman with multiple treatment-refractory scalp plaques and associated alopecia treated with deucravacitinib.
