Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte membranes were surface modified by adding a 1 nm thin, high-yttria concentration YSZ film with the help of atomic layer deposition. The addition of the 1 nm film led to an increase of the maximum power density of a low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell (LT-SOFC) by a factor of 1.50 at 400 degrees C. The enhanced performance can be attributed to an increased oxide ion incorporation rate on the surface of the modified electrolyte.

Highly translucent zirconia (TZ) is frequently used in dentistry. The properties of several highly translucent zirconia materials available in the market require an in-depth understanding. In this study, we assessed the translucency, crystalline phase, mechanical properties, and microstructures of three newly developed highly translucent zirconia materials (Zpex 4.

High-entropy ceramics hold promise for application as thermal barrier coating materials. However, a key challenge in practical applications lies in the low fracture toughness compared to that of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ). Herein, we designed (Hf,Zr,Ce,)O-AlO (M = Y, Ca, and Gd) ceramic composites by following a set of fundamental guidelines.

The present study investigated the in vivo aging of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) oral implants (ZiUnite®) removed after 37 to 181 months. These implants featured a porous zirconia surface to enhance osseointegration. They were placed in prospective clinical investigations and had to be explanted due to peri‑implant bone breakdown.

Objectives: Highly translucent yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) has become more popular due to its enhanced aesthetics. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of traditional air abrasion and a new etching and cleaning agent, Multi Etchant, on the mechanical performance, optical properties, and bond strength of highly translucent zirconia.
Methods: Specimens of 6YSZ, 5YSZ, 4YSZ&5YSZ, and conventional 3YSZ were fabricated and underwent different surface treatments, including as milled, air abrasion, and Multi Etchant.

Aim: To evaluate the micro-shear bond strength (µ-SBS) of resin-modified glass ionomer cement and to assess the chemical and topographical changes in the zirconia fitting surface induced by acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel using scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-two samples were prepared from two zirconia materials, UPCERA HT White and BruxZir Solid Zirconia, milled by a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing system. From each zirconia sample, six plates were prepared for FTIR and SEM testing.
