The effect of the chromatic aberration (C(c)) coefficient in a spherical aberration (C(s))- corrected electromagnetic lens on high-resolution high-angle annular dark field (HAADF) scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) images is explored in detail. A new method for precise determination of the C(c) coefficient is demonstrated, requiring measurement of an atomic-resolution one-frame through-focal HAADF STEM image. This method is robust with respect to instrumental drift, sample thickness, all lens parameters except C(c), and experimental noise. It is also demonstrated that semi-quantitative structural analysis on the nanometer scale can be achieved by comparing experimental C(s)- corrected HAADF STEM images with their corresponding simulated images when the effects of the C(c) coefficient and spatial incoherence are included.

Due to the similarity to human hepatocytes, porcine hepatocytes play an important role in hepatic research and drug evaluation. However, once hepatocytes were cultured in vitro, it was often prone to dedifferentiate, resulting in the loss of their characteristic features and normal functions, which impede their application in liver transplantation and hepatotoxic drugs evaluation. Up to now, this process has yet to be thoroughly investigated from the single-cell resolution and multi-omics perspective.

Background: Gyrodactylus von Nordmann, 1832, a genus of viviparous parasites within the family Gyrodactylidae, contains one of the largest nominal species in the world. Gyrodactylus pseudorasborae Ondračková, Seifertová & Tkachenko, 2023 widely distributed in Europe and China, although its mitochondrial genome remains unclear. This study aims to sequence the mitogenome of G.

Recent technologic advancements have facilitated the use of hypofractionated Gamma Knife-based radiosurgery (HF-GKRS) to treat large lesions or those in eloquent areas. This study aimed to analyze the preliminary results of HF-GKRS for these meningiomas, and to determine its effectiveness and safety. This single-center retrospective study analyzed data of patients who underwent HF-GKRS for large meningiomas or those in eloquent areas with > 6 months of follow-up.

The interaction between renal intrinsic cells and macrophages plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of kidney diseases. In recent years, epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation, histone modification, and non-coding RNA regulation have become essential windows for understanding these processes. This review focuses on how renal intrinsic cells (including tubular epithelial cells, podocytes, and endothelial cells), renal cancer cells, and mesenchymal stem cells influence the function and polarization status of macrophages through their own epigenetic alterations, and how the epigenetic regulation of macrophages themselves responds to kidney damage, thus participating in renal inflammation, fibrosis, and repair.

Cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-CMs) possess tremendous advantage for cardiac regeneration. However, cell survival is challenging upon cell transplantation. Since microgravity can profoundly affect cellular properties, we investigated the effect of spaceflight on hiPSC-CMs.
