This study quantifies the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on hospitalization for COVID-19 infection in a South African private health insurance population. This retrospective cohort study is based on the analysis of demographic and claims records for 550,332 individuals belonging to two health insurance funds between 1 March 2020 and 31 December 2022. A Cox Proportional Hazards model was used to estimate the impact of vaccination (non-vaccinated, partly vaccinated, fully vaccinated) on COVID-19 hospitalization risk; and zero-inflated negative binomial models were used to estimate the impact of vaccination on hospital utilization and hospital expenditure for COVID-19 infection, with adjustments for age, sex, comorbidities and province of residence.

Purpose: Professional bodies currently advise all pregnant individuals undertake confirmatory prenatal diagnostic testing following preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic conditions (PGT-M). We aimed to ascertain the uptake of prenatal diagnostic testing following PGT-M in a large single-centre population.
Methods: This observational linkage study was undertaken using routinely collected outcome data from PGT-M cycles performed at one of Australia's largest PGT-M providers and a statewide dataset of all prenatal samples undergoing cytogenetic analysis in Victoria, Australia, between 2015 and 2022.

Most plant pathogens secrete effector proteins to circumvent host immune responses, thereby promoting pathogen virulence. One such pathogen is the fungus , which causes Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) disease on wheat and barley. Transcriptomic analyses revealed that expresses many candidate effector proteins during early phases of the infection process, some of which are annotated as proteases.
