CRP is an important inflammatory marker, however, CRP levels are relatively low in patients with SLE. In addition patients with SLE often display low activities and serum levels for DNase I and complement, respectively. Here we show that DNase I treatment of nec PBMC increased their binding of CRP. Consequently, reduced DNase I activity in patients with SLE may contribute to the impaired opsonisation by CRP of dead cells, exacerbating the clearance defect in SLE of apo and nec cells.

Objective: To analyse work participation among patients with inflammatory rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases (iRMDs), namely rheumatoid arthritis (RA), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis (SSc) and ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV).
Methods: A cross-sectional sample of 16 421 patients from the National Database of the German Collaborative Arthritis Centers, aged <65 years were analysed. For each diagnosis, yearly rates of absenteeism, employment and disability pensions were analysed from 2010 to 2022.

Senear-Usher syndrome, or pemphigus erythematosus (PE), is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by the coexistence of features from both lupus erythematosus (LE) and pemphigus foliaceus (PF). We describe a 41-year-old patient initially diagnosed with cutaneous and then systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), who after a few years developed new skin lesions: erythematous and erosive eruptions partially covered by crusts located on the trunk and flaccid blisters on the extremities. Direct immunofluorescence of perilesional skin revealed deposits of IgG in the intercellular space of the epidermis and granular deposits of C3 at the dermo-epidermal junction.
