Understanding the relative contributions of environmental, behavioural and social factors to reproductive success is crucial for predicting population dynamics of seabirds. However, these factors are often studied in isolation, limiting our ability to evaluate their combined influence. This study investigates how marine environmental variables, foraging behaviour and social factors (divorce), influence reproductive success in little penguins () over 13 breeding seasons.

Background: To evaluate the role of ultrasound (US) in the assessment of the airway and to determine whether US has the potential to serve as effective, noninvasive and less time-consuming method for the diagnosis of difficult intubation in ICU patients.

Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried in 152 critically ill patients who underwent intubation in the ICU from December 2022 to April 2024. Prior to intubation thyromental height (TMH) and hyomental distance ratio (HMD-R) was measured using a scale and distance from skin to hyoid bone (SHB) and distance from skin to thyrohyoid membrane (STM) was measured using a US.

Objectives: To compare the values of ultrasound and clinical parameters for predicting outcomes of induction of labor (IOL) among healthy nulliparous women with a singleton, term cephalic pregnancy.

Methods: The cervical length, cervical strain elastography, posterior cervical angle, head-perineum distance, Bishop score, and maternal parameters were assessed before IOL with a combined method-Foley catheter and Misoprostol perorally. The main outcome was vaginal delivery.

Predictors of dilation difficulty in gender-affirming vaginoplasty.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

November 2024

Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY,  USA; Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, New York, NY, USA. Electronic address:

A necessary component of postoperative care in gender-affirming vaginoplasty is the dilation of the neovaginal canal. Difficulty with dilation can cause patient pain and distress, often decreasing compliance and leading to partial or complete closure of the neovaginal canal. This study sought to evaluate the sociodemographic, operative, and comorbid characteristics that contribute to patient difficulty with neovaginal dilation.

CAR-T cell therapy for breast cancer: Current status and future perspective.

Cancer Treat Rev

December 2024

Istituto Nazionale Tumori, IRCCS, Fondazione G. Pascale, Napoli, Italy. Electronic address:

Within the expanding therapeutic landscape for breast cancer (BC), metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains virtually incurable and tend to develop resistance to conventional treatments ultimately leading to metastatic progression and death. Cellular immunotherapy (CI), particularly chimeric antigen receptor-engineered T (CAR-T) cells, has emerged as a promising approach for addressing this challenge. In the wake of their striking efficacy against hematological cancers, CAR-T cells have also been used where the clinical need is greatest - in patients with aggressive BCs.
